Anybody wonder..a g35 T-Top?

I always wonder how the g35 would look as a t-top like the supras. I think it would look hot. What do you guys think? We need some photo shop experts. Anyone?

Re: Anybody wonder..a g35 T-Top?

Technically, I believe the Supra's were targa top, meaning the entire roof panel came out as 1 piece (like current Corvette coupes). Without knowing how the car was constructed, ie, is the roof used as part of the primary structural support for rigidity (I would guess it is), it would make the car flex and twist a bit more if it was a structural member. I prefer the car rigid, myself. Also, it would be a pain in the rear to find a place to store the top (I guess you could put the back seat down and fashion some kind of mechanism to anchor the top). I'm not so sure the lines of the car would look right with the front section of the roof gone. I guess it could be done, the question is should it be done.

I thought t-top means: targa top. Oh well I meant like the supras and vettes.
Not that I would do just wondering how it would look????

A T-top on the G35 coupe would just make it heavier than it already is....and thus slower

LOL WWwest is that the smokey and the bandit car?

I always liked the targa top on some cars. Would be interesting to see on ours. We need a photochopper.

T tops are where the two sections come out, leaving a center beam, making it look like the letter T. Like the old 300zx. Targa's are cooler. I've often said that if the Z came with a targa top, I would have got that instead. I'm sure they would make it like the NSX-T where there is a special storage area for the top in the trunk.

Re: Anybody wonder..a g35 T-Top?

Well, if Nissan engineers claimed the 350Z was constructed with a convertible in mind, then I don't see why the G35C couldn't go without a roof. Afterall, we get the same rear strut in our car as the 350Z.

Re: Anybody wonder..a g35 T-Top?

I used to have a '92 300zx, they were t-tops(2 panels)
The car handled fine, but it eventually started to leak when it rained.
I think t-tops or targa tops would mess up the lines of the G.
I'm very content with my one touch sunroof.

I don't think that it would mess up the lines of the G. The Supras' targo top aren't that visible to the eyes when cover.
Good point Suka. The Z has the convertible then couldn't that frame could be used. Who knows??? But I still think it would look HOT.

Re: Anybody wonder..a g35 T-Top?

I don't know exactly how it would look, but i do know it would be a real pain after a few years. My 300Z'X's roof leaked. My friend's roof on his Supra had to be constantly re-tightened because it would work itself loose. And then there's the question of top storage in an already limited trunk. I think "What will the G look like with a targa top?" is a question better left unanswered.
