no it looks great, I went to home depot and the guy told me to use 100 to leave it scartched up so that the paint could adhere, did 4 coats of paint, 3 coats of clear.

Yeah. I told him that I didn't want them and he offered me $300 so I took them. Worst case scenario I'll sell them for profit

You need spacers and they would look a lil better.

that looks great...when I did mine about a year ago it turned out good as well but looks like I really need to re do it since it has sooo many paint chips....

Is there any step you could take to avoid early pain chipping? Also I dont know why but I thought taking out the grille was pain in the ***..

nO taking out the grill took about 3 minutes. Just clips that pop out and then you pull it out.

Have been thinking about doing this. Do you have any listing of materials or instructions?

.

Why I might just get it powder coated instead of trying to paint it myself. I am getting quotes from $50-$75 which isn't too bad.

Some of yall really need to just search. If you click the advanced search options and put in DIY (or maybe its How to; been awhile) you will have TONS of threads to look through. All of which have answers to the questions you are no posing.

Oh, and that looks like you did a pretty good job. I prefer emblemless myself, but that looks very nice. Well done.

Ya... do it the correct way, with automotive bc/cc, not spray paint.

The last person i'd take automotive painting advice from is a Home Depot employee....

It's not like you can't re paint it. Besides, I used 100 grit as well, then painted, and it looks great. It's just plastic. I just did mine with rust-oleum black primer and a gloss black paint, then a clear coat protectant finish. Just waiting to put it on the car now.

Just found this on google. I think it looks terrible. Plus he didn't even paint the edges of the Mt Fuji clip so you can see the chrome wrapping the grill.

I just painted mine, I'll post some pics soon. I taped off the Mt Fuji and painted around the edges so it will match the grill and won't stand out. The chrome just looked tackier to me every time i saw it.

I went with a metallic black, it's got a really nice shine to it. I'm not sure how it will look on the car, but looks great right now. I can always just paint gloss black over it.
