Anyone running without a 3rd brake light?

I am trying to swap trunks with this guy because I absolutely hate the OEM ironing-board spoiler, and I have an aftermarket spoiler from my last G35 that I'm itching to put on. Problem is I have an 05 which doesn't have a 3rd brake light on the rear deck. And I don't have the time or confidence to completely take apart my rear to swap the 3rd brake light.

Anybody running a spoiler-less trunk without a 3rd brake light? I don't want to get hassled by the cops, but I NEED to get rid of this ugly *** spoiler (what was Infiniti thinking?)...

I personally do have my third brake light with the plate shaped spoiler (look at it when on your knees it looks like a plate on your trunk) and would kill a hooker for a gialla trunk, but whats the problem I very very highly doubt you'll get hassled by a cop for not having a third brake light on a G. The lights are grouped so close together it makes no sense for a third one, its basically aesthetic at this point.

I think we're talking about the same spoiler. This is exactly what I have down to the integrated light (http://www.dragtimes.com/images/2016...finiti-G35.jpg).

You said you'd kill for a Gialla trunk, I'll do you one better: I have a Veilside Fortune widebody spoiler sitting here, one of maybe five in the US. And I can't put it on. My last G35 had no spoiler so I installed it, but my new one has this horrific ironing board on it.

Im doing it. Personally I like the look. My 06 came with the 06 spoiler factory installed meaning no 3rd brake light. I prefer the wingless look. Bought a wingless trunk and sold my winged trunk. No one seems to notice. I live in Socal where the cops are suppose to be the worse but had a couple of cops follow me and they never noticed, even at night.

trade rear shelves as well. I have a tan interior w/a black rear shelf deck, it doesnt match, but i have that peace of mind knowing i wont get pulled over.. taking apart the rear is a minor PIA but it's worth it in the end.

He's already pm'd me about it. T-cat, i doubt you will get hasseled for it. Only time the cops might notice is when they pull you over for something else and just happen to notice it. The just explain to them you bought the car from the dealer this way.

Good luck!

Came across this option from ebay. Maybe go that route or rig something else up, like this

Thanks for the links, I was thinking I could maybe buy an LED strip or something and just attach it on the rear shelf. Not really concerned about looks since my rear window is tinted fairly dark anyways. But I think that would still entail me having to take apart the rear to get access to the wiring.

I ran w/o a 3rd brake light for awhile. I recently got pulled over with a warning so I went ahead and followed the diy below:

and it worked perfectly

So for all those running without a 3rd brake light, if you get pulled over for it what are you going to do? The light assembly runs like $200+ and the work to put it in is over my head.

I have a guy who wants to swap with me but I don't think either of us really want to swap the 3rd brake light.

you don't need a third light. CVC 24603 only requires that you have two.
