2003/2004 G35 Coupe Questions

Hi:

My name is Bill and I'm new here. Interesting forum. I am looking to buy either a 2003 or 2004 G35 coupe. I have read some stories that they have some problems. I've read that they can have electrical issues caused by the stereo which fries the circuit board. I've read that the brakes need replacing every 10,000 miles. I've read that the car doesn't stay in alignment and that causes the tires to wear down quickly.

I looked at a lot of posts here and didn't find too much information about these problems. So, are the brakes easily worn out in both the 2003 and 2004 coupes? Do both years go out of alignment frequently? And does the electrical issue with the radio affect both the 2003 and 2004 coupes? Is it just with the Bose stereo or does the problem happen with the standard stereo also?

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

i have an 03 coupe with the bose stereo and i had the climate control issue. the climate would get stuck on max AC and the buttons to control the climate wont work. my friend has an 04 coupe with bose stereo, the climate controls work fine but the cd player is not working.

i have an 03 coupe. no problems with the radio, but that's because i changed it out. i changed out to aftermarket pads and rotors and they seem to last longer than 10K miles. alignment i don't know about. i just bought new rims and tires. only problems i had are the window and door locks like most people on here have.

oh yea i had the door lock problem also. my passenger side would lock perfectly but when it comes to unlocking it would stick. i had to get inside the car first thru the driver side and unlock the passenger side by hand when i had a passenger.

2004 coupe:

stock CD/radio stoped working on drivers speaker, had replaced by dealer and then it happen again. the stock deck sucks.

window motors suck too, replaced the passenger side once and the drivers side twice.

brake pads last for around 30k.

my stock tires (18") lasted around 30k if i remember correctly. the insides wear faster then the outside, but not really a significant problem as they did last me a long time.

I am an original owner of an '03 coupe. The car has been very reliable with no major problems at all. Brakes are no problem - about the same as any other car I have owned. Tires will wear quicker if you use high performance tires - but that is the tire not the car. If you want longer tire life, don't get high perf tires. No alignment issues. Bose radio/CD has been fine also. I do recall having one window motor fail while the car was still under warranty - but no car is perfect.

The bottom line is that this is a great performance car and is reliable. Still always fun to drive after 7 yerars! Beautiful styling and a big plus is that the only people that can tell whether or not it is a 2003 or a 2010 coupe are those on this forum!!
