New member, just a couple questions about the coupe!
Hi, newbie heree, shopping around for an 04 6mt coupe.
I'm looking for an 04 coupe because I really want a MT and I'm not trying to have oil consumption issues. Either way, I had gone to test drive a twilight blue with the wheat interior and it felt comfortable, but as mentioned the console did feel a bit cheap, the bose acually sounded decent aswell. One thing I noticed was the clutch was super hard to push down on, I had to make a real effort and it didnt disengage all that smoothly. The only manuals I've driven have been Audi's, and those were nice and smooth, so i couldnt really make a judgement call. The dealer selling the car didnt seem to notice any issue, so is this somewhat normal for a decent condition clutch on the coupe?
Also, are the brembo brake pads more expensive to replace than the 05, 06 pads? or same ball park?
-thanks in advance, zach.

04 was an ok year, but you might as well get an 05 or 06 if you can afford it, should you have a oil consumption problem you can always have the engine replaced completely under warranty
the interior is a little cheaper with the plastic fake aluminium etc.
clutch is sometimes a bit stiff until it warms up, what was the weather like when you drove it? did you use it a lot or were you mostly cruising on the highway?
the clutch is stiffer then something in a A4 because its more of a performance clutch, it depends on what your used to. my friends dad who drives many high end perforance cars including the R8 and corvettes etc. drove my car and thought that the clutch was smooth.
worst case is you need a new clutch, somewhat expensive, but worth it because you go to aftermarket and gain some power (sorta), i've been thinking i'll be doing mine in the next 2 years, i figure it will be about 1300 bucks, 1500 tops, and thats just replacing with a slight step up from stock. could just be the fluid has some bubbles or moisture in it as well, or maybe its just dirty.
Can't really help you with brakes, but an entire brake job on my 05 costed about 500 or just a little over, and that was a complete job including resurfacing etc, they feel amazing now, should be good for another 30K atleast (i don't do much perforance driving, and i prefer the pedal furthest to the right
) its probably not to expensive to replace the brembo's pads, just go to something after market so that it doesn't burn out to quickly, the stock ones burned out like mad from what i hear.
Oh, and welcome, if you are in university, expect to loose marks because you are costantly browsing this website for reasons your do not know of.

The weather when I drove the car was 40's, Im from Mass. It was mostly city driving, I didnt get above 45 mph.
I was just thinking if i bought an 05 06 from a general run of the mill used car dealership that infiniti might try and give me the run around? I have like 22k to spend so a 05 wouldnt be a stretch by any means.
The car has 52k on it and was a previous lease...so its kind of a gamble of weather the person didnt really own the car and decided to have some fun before they turned it in....neglected ect.
i was just real curious because the stock clutch on an 05 audi s4 was $3300 to replace
=o

nah, its a little cheaper on a G. don't worry about it too much, your in the states, max you should pay is 1500, if you have it done by the dealer it will be more like 2500, but don't get the dealer to do stuff, they treat you nice seemingly, but they'll rip you off.
yah at 52K the clutch is going to start going out possibly, theres a few guys on here that have 100K on theres, but its not unusual for them to go at 60K, plus it was a lease, so the guy might have reafed on it. The weather probably had some effect on the clutch as well, it is usually stiffer in cold weather.
Depends on if you want to mod the car, or just keep it as is, for 22K you can get an 06 with 30K that was a 1 owner and fully loaded, i got a 05 with those specifications for 19500 so i can't imagine an 06 being much more expensive.

yeah I'll take a look at some newer models, I was just nervious that if the car was out of factory warranty and i was the second owner that the dealer might refuse to give me a new engine, but then again I've never dealt with Infiniti.
This particular one had a sticker of 19k, I told him he was dreaming and in a snap he went to 16.5k....somewhat sketchy. I'm not really looking to mod the car performance wise....just a simple drop and tint, possible grill to keep it clean.
Thanks for your help though!

yeah, thats pretty sketch, like i said, take what i paid for mine as an example of what you can get, now i'd say i got an amazing deal because mine was in absolute mint condition and synthetic oil changes and looking after the car was a usual thing for the previous (1 owner). pay 21, 500 for a 06 with 30K miles and do about 500-1000 in maintenance, all of the fluid changes, possibly belts if they need, have it detailed maybe as well.
then in 6 months when you want more power, sink another 1000 into that and maybe unlock yourself another 20 odd horsepower, unless you want to go all out with a fi setup, but then your are just loosing money (sorry to those of you who have fi, but its true).
