Timing Belt Change

Just was looking for some input on when i should change out the timing belt on my G35. I am approaching 100k miles, probably in the next month or so. I haven't looked n my manual but i will soon.

its a chain not a belt .. so you service it when it breaks and your motor blows

but if your talking about drive/ac/alternator belts .. just look at them, if they are cracking replace them .. i do mine every 15k cracks or no cracks

Lol. Common mistake, lots of people ask for quotes on timing belt replacement not knowing they have chains. Take it easy on him.

Then you won't mind our asking, "How much did you charge them to replace the non existent timing belt?" What you have there is 100% profit $300 to $600 for doing nothing....

^don't worry, timing chain doesn't have any requirements in changing it out. i think the life of the chain is probably longer than all the other parts of the motor.

It's never gotten that far. lol I actually have a heart.

To the OP - Its definitely a good thing that you're keeping up with your vehicles maint. Just check all the fluids, belts, tires and enjoy the G ride. I just got mine about 2 months ago and I'm loving it! Unfortunately one of my customers backed right into my car after we put some air in her tires.

If oil tensioner was bad it would be noticeable on start up, the noise subsides after oil pressure builds up until next time engine started.

Rattling could be anything from heat shields, bad catalytic converter, drivetrain etc.
