very close race with 645ci
I was in my 5AT driving in a 3lane street I was in the middle and a white 645ci was in the left on green I gunned it a little but was not racing or anything but all of sudden the 645ci smoked the tires and flew right into my lane and his car wasn't fast enough to make it to my lane I almost hit him when he did that. So I said [censored] it we both went to the right lane and made a right into another 3lane street I barked at him for cutting me off he laughed and asked me how many horsepower I have I said 280 and he had 325 and he was a auto so we decided to race on green I put it in mm and by about 80-85mph we were dead even I laughed at the guy after the race because his car is 80,000 and I told him to buy a m3 or m5 if you want to get cocky with a bimmer. Highway run he will most likely smoke me because of the v8 though
Re: very close race with 645ci
Good for you, but the owner of the 645 probably didint buy the car for racing anyways. Doesn't take a rockert scientist to figure out M3 = less money and faster. The 645 is a totally differnt car than M3. 645ci is a sweet car.
Re: very close race with 645ci
G coupe Auto: 3,422 lbs 280hp / 270 lb-ft
BMW 645ci Auto: 3,781 lbs 325hp / 330 lb-ft
Don't know if this ~ 350 lb difference can make it easier for the G as far as a faster run on the highway would go... but good run nonetheless.
Nothing like a cocky bimmer owner being put in his place!

Re: very close race with 645ci
Yeah if there was an M6 that would be sweet but other than the looks on the 645 I'm not impressed. It is a sweet looking car though. MMMMM the thought of an M6 are there any plans for one?
Re: very close race with 645ci
Nick the M6 will be ouyt in 2006/2007 with a tweaked version of the new M5 engine, V10 550 hp and probably 500 lb ft of torque or if its the same or a little more than the M5 its 400, i saw 550/500 somewhere so im not positive. They are also coming out with the M6 CSL just like the M3 CSL, its a lightweight track or racing version!!

Re: very close race with 645ci
Was it a convertible? If it was a coupe, I find it very hard to believe it was even. The 645Ci coupe w/ AUTO, does 0-60 in 5.3 s & the 1/4 mile in 13.7 s (R & T, Apr-04). That's faster than even the manual G35c.

Re: very close race with 645ci
I don't know what the hell you guys are smoking.... the 645 is BUTT!!!!! Out of their entire lineup, the only cars I'd consider getting is the e46 M and the other 3 series. The M5, haven't seen it in person, so I won't judge until then. God.. who's taking crazy pills?!??!

Re: very close race with 645ci
Yeah I figured they would do something like that. That car is gonna be off the hook! Too bad it's gonna be like 100k or something rediculous. Not that I can afford to 70-80k base model lol.
Re: very close race with 645ci
Uh, it's to give some perspective as to how fast it is. Fine, let's completely ignore mags & listen to a bunch of anonymous people on an internet forum.
So all those IS300 guys who claim their near stock IS300 beats the G35 are right. Let's ignore the fact that mag times show the IS300 isn't near the G35. Since some anonymous people on an IS300 forum claimed they beat it & "proved" it for themselves by beating the G35.
When magazines show that there is about a 1 second difference in 1/4 mile times (between the 645Ci auto & G35 auto), I do find it hard to believe.

Re: very close race with 645ci
The 645ci is an AMAZING car. Don't crack on one till you've driven it.It out performs our cars in every aspect, and the lookg OMFG. Although I LOVE my g35 coupe, there is something about the way BMWs are built. The quality (apart from the electronics) cannot be touched. Just try closing a door on one and hear the "thud" as compared to our doors. Even compare it to an LS430 and you'll see what I mean. Japanese cars are great up to 50k, but I honestly can never see myself spending more than 50 grand on a Japanese car. Whenever I think of sick coupes I think...
Under 30k Accord V6 Coupe
Under 40k G35 Coupe
Under 50k M3 Coupe
Then the next level is DEF the 645ci. The car is just as luxurious as a new 7, with the drive of a 545. I would take it over an M3 or M5 in a heartbeat. Just my .02.
