DashBoard Light Help

I have a 2004 G35 coupe. Recently is seems one of the Speedometer backlight bulbs is not working correctly. The lower left quadrant of the Speedo (0-mph) is dim... like a bulb is out. Everything else on dashboard is lit properly. That said, when I go over a bump the light comes on and stays on. It might stay on for entire 20 mile drive...shut car off with it still on... restart car and bulb is out. Sometimes when I restart the car the light is out again...go over bump and light comes on. Has anyone taken apart the dash and seen what kind of bulbs light up the Speedo? Are these bulbs in our replaceable? Any idea of what problem may be?

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure they are led's behing the dash. If that is the case I don't think its a bulb. From my experience leds either work or they don't. There is no filament. That being said, it would be a wiring or soldering issue. I'm not an expert with led's or even this dashboard so I would wait to see what other ideas come up on here before you go ripping your dashboard apart looking for bad soldering.

check your fuses first prior to taking your dash apart

I think all fuses are ok since everything else in car is working properly. All the lights are the entire dashboard are find except for this one are of the speedo. Again... when I go over bump or move the dash pod up and down aggressively the part of the speedo that is dark lights up. I would say \75% of the speedo is still lit up even when this problem occurs. When the problem does occur everything else in dash is lit up properly...every in car is working properly inside and out.

I would still check all fuses. If not take it to the dealer, if it bothers you that much.

but you might just have a short somewhere. Take the dash apart.. good luck

Turns out the 04 coupe does has bulbs for the speedo and tach ect...

Apparently there are 11 bulbs total that light up the tach, speedo, temp and fuel and one of mine is now bad in the speedo area.

Part number 26262-01p40

Has anyone replaced these bulbs? How difficult is the process to get to them?

See attached diagram that shows the bulbs for an 03/04 coupe. Not sure about the 05 and beyond.

Update... Had dash removed and bulb replaced. Took about 1 hour for professional installer to get it done. Bought bulb from Infiniti for about 7 bucks.

Thanks to all for the help.
