Question limiter???

hi guys, i need some help. I have a 2003 G35 5AT. i live in London. I have fitted an injen CAI, a 5/8 plennum spacer and dual pipe exhaust system. After i while i noticed that the car would accelorate very hard up to 13o miles and hour but no more ( on a track) it will not go beyond 130 and i have no idea why. any suggestions? do you think that plugging it into the computer and seeing what comes up will help? also do you think that a reflash or remap is the answer? is driving me nuts. cheers guys for your help.

I'm pretty sure the car does have an electronic limiter at 130. I think it can put out around 20-30 more mph?

Yes the car has a limiter. I believe both Osiris and Cobb tuning remove the limiter.

thats odd, and people please don't flame this thread, he said he was on a track, and really, if you have ever talked to anyone thats been on the autobahn they will agree that 130 is not that fast.

I always thought the g35 coupe was limited to 155 mph, atleast i always see youtube videos of it, anyone else have any input? i'm not interested in going this fast, I just want to know if it could go 155 or what it can do?

I believe in the U.S the limiter is set to 155 mph, I guess it's different in London

I can't contribute to this, but I just wanted to say I have been looking in the papers over there (Sheffield), because I am hoping to move to the U.K. and have not found a G35 for sale. I was thinking of having mine shipped, but we will see. It is cool to hear from you.

It is 155. The guy doing 160 probably had bigger rims or removed the limiter.

IIRC,

G35 top speed: 187 mph( with OEM final drive-those who opt to get a 3.9, 4.1, etc final drive will have a lower top speed.)

Speed Governer/Limiter(in the US): 155 mph

Is your car an actual Infinit G35 or is it a rebadged Skyline 350GT imported from Japan? If it is a Japanese import it will be limited to 180kph which is still a little off 130mph but given speedo error, different size wheels, etc should be quite close to it.

So that's gearing wise, how about power wise? I assume the aerodynamics would allow pretty high speeds, but I can't imagine there is anywhere near enough power get close to those speeds.

A quick check shows C5 vettes with 350hp and a top end of 175.
I'm guessing a G wouldn't break 160. I'd be interested in knowing though.

Wow, according to Wiki, we have a 0.26 drag coefficient (coupe with aero package). That is very good. Same as the Prius. Interestingly the 350 and 370Z is .30

HMM, i wonder how fast you could go with just bolt ons, obviously those of you with FI could probably hit 180 mph or close too, but i think that in the right conditions with a full exhaust (dual, hfc's etc), plenum, intake, and maybe a couple other things that i just don't think of, i think its possible to maybe stretch 162-165, but thats only in perfect conditions, and your car would have to be clean to help w/ aerodynamics

Thats based on watching a couple videos of people hitting 155 in there coupes, which seems to come very slowly. Maybe also if you took the spare tire out lol, need to save as much weight as possible, so no passengers.

although the 03 and 04 coupes seem to be able to hit 155, so the 05+ revups should be able to get a little past. It'd take so long you'd debate on playing a quick round of solitaire.
