Buying a 04 G35 Sports Coupe with 100,000 miles, What Should I look out for?
Finally selling my old car, just got out of marines.
I seen a 04 G35 sports coupe 6-speed for $ 11,000 with 100,000 miles in Cali. It has no spoiler,I was wondering if it doesnt have a spoiler because the person who bought it didnt want the AERO package.( I will ask him later)
I also seen a 03 G35 sports coupe with a spoiler that has 87,000 miles wanting $12,880.
I am going to try to talk them into lowering the prices by $1,000.
What Should I Look out for and have my mechanic check the most? I dont want to get the car and have to fix it due to problems. All I know is to check when the last time the clutch was installed. What are some other Key issues with these cars over 100,000 miles. Will they last around 200,000 miles?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH, i have been driving a car that has many problems because its 20 years old and I dont want to buy this car and have it crap on me. I am going to drive the g35 like a Granny, because i cant afford no issues.
I was wondering why the 04 G35 has so much miles on it being only 6 years old, so i can definately talk him into lowering the price by $1,500 or more. I dont think i can talk the other 03 G35 with for $12,800 that much into lowering the price. ( but its the one i really want because of the color and interior color, with a spoiler.)
Should i pay the extra 2 grand and get a car that has almost 10,00 miles lesser, or get the one that has 100,000 miles and get it for cheaper.
I have a good mechanic who knows his stuff so when we go there we will see, but wanted your opinions because i never had a G35 before.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

My first piece of advice is to not buy a car with all the money you have available. The "I can't afford no issues" comment concerns me especially if you're looking at buying a car with 100K miles. ANY car with that many miles is going to have some issues and require a fair bit of maintenance, not to mention some impending repairs which may or may not be costly.
I say save up some more money if you want a G so you can do it right or look for another vehicle. An older Maxima with lower miles would be a good choice IMO.
Good luck.

Blue's right, shop around if anything goes wrong with those high mileage Infiniti's the cost could be major. When you do find one with half that mileage get a CARFAX so you have some history and don't forget service records too.

What problems could arise from a 100,000 mile or 88,000 2003 G35 6speed?
My uncle owns a auto body shop, but I hate to ask him for discounts on parts and I never rarely do. He does always tell me whats wrong with my car though.
If i were to get the 100,000 mile G35 6speed, He asked $10,000. Would that be a good deal? My uncle would extensively run diagnostic tests on the car to make sure its good.
The only problems i've researched for the g35 is excessive oil consumption which makes the car need a new motor.
Is the Transmisson strong? If the car has been driven hard/raced sometimes would the tranny/rear differential eventually crap on me or would it crap out at 200,000 miles?
I had a 1993 3000GT that was driven hard and it lasted me 14 years with 170,000 miles with just replacing the clutch every 5 years.
I dont want to have to replace the slave cylinder or some transmisson drivetrain part on the G35. But if its for $1000, it would be a reasonable offer? How much would changing out the spark plugs cost for labor in the g35?
The 3000GT is pain in the butt to change the spark plugs, Ive read that the G35 is easy, but do you have to take apart the engine heads and manifold or something like that? If it was easy my uncles friend could do it for me for a discounted price.

The VQ is a pretty strong motor I had an 02 Max with 150k with zero issues that I raced 10+ times a year and drove hard, so with proper maintenance it will last till 200k. A friend of mine had over 225k on his 03 max and had very little issues just normal wear parts were replaced ie. alternator and starter. The only semi major issue that I had with both the max and my 04 G was oil leaking into the spark plug tube, which is common for these engines. If you do get either of the two change the plugs right away (very easy) to see if you have any leaks which should be covered under the used car warranty if you buy from a dealer. Don't worry about the oil consumption as that is mainly a Rev-Up motor issue (05+ 6MT). Don't let the high miles scare you too much just be sure to have it thoroughly checked out first. Good luck
Thanks, Is $10,000 for a 2004 g35 sports coupe with 100,000 miles a good deal if my mechanic runs all tests on it and says its fine.
He will make sure the car is working 100% properly because hes my uncle.
Can you give me an estimate for Spark plug changes, and clutch change estimated and any other things you g35 drivers did to maintain your car at 100,000 miles.
I could pay $12,500 with for a G35 with 75,000 miles but i would still need to do the maintenece of the spark plugs and probably the clutch at 100,000 miles.
So i dont know if paying the $2,500 for a lesser 25,000 miles is good, it sounds to me like it is.

spark plugs are to be done at 105k normally. otherwise, i would check for regular maintenance as far as filters, fluids, and belts. the valve covers, lower oil pan, or oil cooler seal are bound to be leaking by then. its a good, strong motor and shouldnt have much problems otherwise. maybe look into buying an aftermarket extended warranty? the afm, tb, and an occasional cam/crank sensor can/will go out sooner or later. just saying from experience since i work with these cars every day.
but just pick the one that is obviously in better shape for the better price.
