Exclamation Help, My G35 is lacking power! need advice

purchased a one owner g35
2003,six spd. 85k

The car does not have that pep when accelerating...
It doesnt pull me back in my seat at all, and the acceleration is mediocre at best.
Mind you, I am not used to driving fast cars' My last car was a honda civic.
When I accelerate in 2 or third gear and floor it, the car just gradually accelerates while the RPM jumps! The car is not as quick as it should be.. My friends g35, same year same everything pulls me back in my seat! We are both stock and unmodified.
What could be wrong with my car? I replaced the air filter, changed the oil etc.
Could something be clogged? could my clutch be going bad??
Please help.

Lol. This thread is funny. But seriously, if you think something is wrong with it, take it to a mechanic.

man that last quote might just be a signature...

I'm no technician, but my suggestions would be as follows:
1. ECU reset.
2. Run some fuel injector cleaner now and after each oil change.
3. If your tach is jumping while you're revving then I'd say get someone who is experienced check out your tranny.
4. Maybe MAF or throttle body, but I think they would both throw codes should there be an issue.

alredy did the fuel injector cleaner.
Should I reset the ecu?
Im guesing the stealership can do this? and is it typical to get the ecu reset?

The main thing here is my rpms will rise but my car is not moving very fast. Its almost on par with my honda civic... to be honest..

disconnect batt and pump breaks or disconnect batt for 24hrs to reset ecu...prob ur injectors or MAF. clean both, just b/c you used injector cleaner doesnt mean theyre clean..theyre easy to remove and reinstall.MAF is also easily accessable and easy to clean.could maybe be your spark plugs..swap to ngk irridium plugs

Did you drive your other friends car or did you sit passenger? I have always felt cars feel faster in the passenger because you don't expect the acceleration because your not pushing the pedal. Might be mental.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
I think all of you are missing the important part of what he's saying. If your RPMs climb quickly but you don't feel the acceleration I bet your clutch is fried and slipping.

Expensive fix, but a necessary evil for the 6MT guys and girls.

sounds like it needs an old fashion tune up

1. oil
2. air filter
3. spark plugs
4. injector cleaner

but blue dream may be right as well, the clutch may be going out on you..

Telltale sign of clutch slip - if your RPM's jump up but your car just slowly accelerates, your clutch is toast.
