wrong oil weight. o.k.?

So the other day I was changing my oil at home and when I went to pour in my fist quart I notice that the oil was 5w-50. I grabed the wrong stuff off the shelf at auto zone,( I know, dumb *ss). Since Im at home with no oil in my car I had no option but to use it to get to the store to buy the 5w-30 the car calls for. My question: can I run 5w-50 or should I change it a.s.a.p. some peolple tell me change it some people say it will be o.k. but none of those people own a G so I figured it would be best to ask the experts.
Thanks guys,
logicalloco

You should go ahead and change it though, just to get that little stress off your chest.

My advice would be to remove that 50wt oil soon, with the close tolerances of our engines you're probably not getting the best circulation. Every time I buy oil I check it twice once at the shelf and again when I'm checking out. You never know when someone's moving bottles around....damn customers!
