Non-dealer Service in Las Vegas

I have a 2004 G35 6MT that has 63,000 miles. I need to get the 60,000 mile service. I was quoted $750 by the dealer (only one in Vegas).

I have an extended warranty and have never had any kind of problems with the car. It has been in for normal services. I am sick of having to pay every time I take it in even for what to me should be warranty covered items.

I have had the car since new, and know that normal services aren't covered, but under the warranty nothing ever seems to be covered. I take that back, once the rear brake light was covered under warranty.

Anyway this is getting old. I am not a crazy driver. The original Michelin Pilots lasted me 28,000 miles and and have had the Avon Tech's since then with more than half the tread wear left. So I am conservative and drive only highway miles (I live in Logandale), but the service and "other" charges never covered by warranty are starting to irk me. Last time they said I needed "water pump service", which wasn't covered by warranty and they forgot to tell me about on the previous service and my total bill was $1,200!

Is there anywhere else someone in Vegas (Mesquite or St. George would be fine too) can recommend for service besides the dealer? I am particularly afraid to ask them what the cost for brakes would be because I am anticipating another sticker-shock estimate from them.

I am a girl and I know they see me coming so it may be time to just buy another car and give up on Infinity with only one dealer in town.

TIA

I suppose you take your car to Towbin Infiniti? I remember they used to be on Sahara, across the street from a Chinese restaurant; not sure if they moved.

I can't make a recommendation on where to take your G35 since I've moved down to California, but I have heard negative things about the Towbin chain of dealerships. I recommend avoiding them and finding another dealership/independent mechanic you can rely on.

Best of luck on your search!

That is kind of why I posted here. There is only ONE dealership in Las Vegas for Infiniti. There used to be two, but the other closed, and that was a moot point because they were under the same ownership they were both Towbins, so it was like one dealership anyway.

I am still looking for a good, reputable, independent...if there is actually one out there.

I've never heard of a "water pump service" and I have been driving for 32 years, I think you might be right about them taking advantage of you because you're female. A cheaper dealer alternative would be a local Nissan dealership. Nissan won't do warranty work though just maintenance. Search sites like Yelp for independent reviews on mechanics or ask around. You might also consider learning to do your own maintenance or have a friend who knows what they are doing to help you out.

Good luck.
