thoughts / hows your fiber glass bumper holding up
I wanted to reach out and ask how all of you guys are doing with your fiberglass kits? How long have you had them? Would you buy it again?
Yes I have a sedan but I wanted to ask this in the coupe form since there are tons of kits out for you guys and there are way more coupe owners with aftermarket stuff vs us sedan guys.
I got a 05 sedan and no one makes anything in poly yet.
I need to change up some parts with in the next month, since paint will be free for me and I need to make a decision if I am going to change out my front bumper.
I got a lip for my 05 sport bumper but it is scuffed up so instead of spending another 150 on a lip i was thinking about getting a bumper.
so far there are only 2 bumpers for thee 05-06 the nismo rep ( and it has no lisc plate area so ill be analed by cops here in cali) and the kurookie.(and vis supposedly has a k2 for my year, ill be going to vis tomorrow to look at it, so if anyone wants to join me let me know )
has any of your bumpers cracked yet? I constantly get lightly bumped once every few weeks as I go to sf for work and we all know people cant park for **** there.
Im tired of my bumper looking kind of plain, but if you guys think it wont stand up to daily abuse i may just have to pass.
thanks for your input

If my urethane bumper had been f/g it would have been destroyed within the first year. My Kuruma Z bumper has been hit and twisted, since it was painted correctly it shows zero evidence of having ever been touched. I even got hit by one of those big azz truck recaps, it did nothing but leave scuff marks which waxed off. Fiber glass bumpers, not a great idea....

Your bumper will be about 4 inches off the ground at that height with the KuRookie. You aren't slammed so you should be scraping that often as long as you take driveways at angles. My KuRookie has been through a lot in the past 1+ years of daily driving. The underside of my bumper is all scraped up. It was held up very very well for FG. No real cracks yet, knock on wood.
I'd be more concerned about parking in SF where people bump you, you can't park in a garage and not on the street? But I'd have the same concern with Poly too.

I had the KuRookie and loved it. Best bumper out there for our cars IMO because of it's quality. I put it through HELL. I mean I would scrape the crap out of it and no problems. It wasn't till I got into a really bad situation that it cracked....poly bumper woulda done the same. Thanks to it being fiberglass i was able to make a custom bumper. Fiberglass is an easy fix, poly, not so easy.

yeah i love fiberglass. I have just about ripped the bottom of my kurookie off from scraping all over, but it's still holding. My front fenders are actually showing stress cracks and my bumper is fine go figure. Best part is it will look brand new in about a month after i repaint and add fiberglass to the bottom.
As for abuse I recently got hit by a chunk of a tire ( size of a baseball ) on the freeway. It hit on my lower drivers side on my fiberglass bumper . It chipped paint but thats it. ....
