Deciding between Flowmaster and Magnaflow muffler swap Any suggestions

I'd like to in the next get either one of these, I have seen how people have swapped out the stock muffler for an 80 series but I recently went into a shop and the guy told me he could do pretty much the same with a Magnaflow universal Camaro muffler for about $225 installed. I have yet to see many of these placed on our cars, what do you guys think I should get? o and it's a coupe by the way. Thanks -Justin

Well, just last week I did the Flowmaster swap and I couldn't be happier. But then again I'm an old man of 50 and you may want to hear a little more "music" than the Flowmaster will give you.
The sound is deeper than stock and it sounds great at the sweet spot of about 3500 RPM, but on the freeway, you'll never know that you put it on.
I had them reinstall my factory tips to keep that stock look. Personally I really enjoy the sound of the Flowmaster even more than I thought I would.

Get HFCs, see performance improvement, and better sound.

Now this is a great the OE cats are where most of the restriction is in our exhaust systems. The HFC alone will give you a gain of 10 RWHP and most can be purchased here on DRIVER from our MARKETPLACE under vendor exhaust for less than $400. That's $ well spent, then if you want to change the sound either muffler will handle that.

So....both bits of advice were correct. Makes more since to spend $ where you get the best results, changing the muffler will gain nothing but a sound change.

And considering the HFCs aren't that much more expensive. Most of the HFCs I've seen in the marketplace are like $350. So for an extra $100, you can have better performance and better sound. Like getting 10hp for $100. I'd do it.

Believe it or not, I was only going for a sound change.
This car is my dd, and I really am not interested in gaining hp on THIS car, that's what my Corvette is for.

Then I would hold out until you found a used one for cheap. I just couldn't justify spending $225 on a DD just to change the exhaust sound.

That doesn't sound like to bad of an idea actually. Wouldn't mind getting an extra 10RWHP actually along with some sound change, I just really wanna get that deep throaty sound even tho I know it's a little tough to do with a V-6

I would just leave the exhaust the way it is unless you're going to at least replace it from the cat. I personally love the way the stocker sounds.

I wanna do HFCs and the Stillen y-pipe. Kinda build a custom exhaust. I dunno what mid pipe and axle back I'll want, but HFCs will give you better sounds and HP, which is always better.

I like the way the stock sounds also but I would like a deeper tone now on top of that. Forgot to mention I had the resonator taken off awhile ago and now I get some annoying rasp at times so I think the muffler would help there.

Think I may end up going with the Magnaflow then eventually add on the HF cats or a y-pipe
