Tail of The Dragon
I just got back from a trip to the Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, and Blue Ridge Skyway. 1000 miles driven in under 24 hours. These roads have been rated some of the most scenic entertaining and dangerous roads in the US. I went with a few friends. I had the 6mt coupe, a buddy of mine drove an Audi S4 and another buddy took his terminator. Needless to say this was a challenging ride. Not at all for the novice drivers. Lots of turns, lots of dips, lots of banks and lots of cops. The ride was worth every minute and incredibly exhausting. The speed limit on the NC side was 35mph and the speed limits on the TN side was 40mph. The ride in NC was nice. There were water falls, dams, bridges an some nice areas that over look the mountain range. The TN side got ver aggressive. Some very gnarly corners where if you aren't paying attention will either send you into the side of a mountain of flying off the side of the mountain.
I also decided to take my life into my hands and take the ride with some cheap Nankang NS-2's. I was pleasantly surprised. These tires have had a lot of poor reviews and I don't know why. Road noise is quiet, they stick well enough to to take a very spirited mountain ride which put more strain on the car than any autocross course I have seen let alone driven. I would recommend these tires. Especially for the cost. They are practically disposable.
I have a good number of pictures and GoPro videos which will be posted when I get back and have a bit more time.
For those of you who have made this ride, share you experience and for those of you who haven't....do it.

scott- take a drive in the mountains through hot springs, nc. Talk about wild ride and some of the most beautiful views in the world. Went up to max patch... Absolutely breathtaking being on top of the world up there. Happy to hear you're able to enjoy some real driving like I've been fortunate enough to experience as well.

I went last year with a bunch of my RSX buddies and loved it! It's definitely something all East Coast riders/drivers need to experience.
Here's my flickr album of it.
The girl with me had my cam and took most of the pics.
They went back again this year, last weekend actually, but work kept me away this time
