sounds like a starter to me also... let us know what results you get when you're done replacing it.

It'll come back. Sometimes sticky starter solenoids will stop sticking for a week or so, and then catch you when you're off-guard. For the duration, you may want to keep that short piece of wood and a hammer in the trunk just in case..... so you don't get stranded in a parking lot somewhere.

Found out what's wrong. I need a new clutch switch.
I got my battery/alternator checked and everything was fine. I heard the clutch switch is about $30 and super easy to install.

Tustin Infiniti. $26. Getting it tomorrow.
I know thats it for sure because to start my car I have to have one hand push the button on the clutch switch and my other to turn the ignition. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt

Hi, I'm hi-jacking this thread. The same thing is happening to my 2003 6 spd manual. It started happening a few weeks ago. Because it had been almost 4 yrs, I replaced the old battery without even checking to see if it was bad. Car started fine for a week. And now it's been acting up again for a couple of weeks.

I was thinking it was a starter issue was about to take it into the shop to check out this weekend. But its possible that I have a clutch switch problem too. Vinh, any problems since replacing yours?

i dont think yous guy's problem is the battery, like said before. But to check the battery, easy way to do this, just get a multi-meter. put it to the battery, a brand new battery voltage should be about 12.45volts. A quick, but not 100%, way to check alternators is to start the car then put the meter back ob the battery. If the alternator is working correctly it should read over 14volts. I use both these checks right away when i have starting issues. Usually a pretty reliable check.(and you can get a cheap multi-meter pretty much anywhere for about 12bucks) everything about the starters has already been said by the party guy, good info. I wouldnt have thought of the clutch switch right away, but makes a lot of sence.

So I'm sitting in my car, I push down on the clutch, turn my key to ACC, and then try to turn it on... nothing. All of the lights and radio turn off to power the start of my car, but I don't hear anything, not even the spark plugs. If I keep taking my key out and putting it back in, it'll eventually work one time.

and YES I'm pushing down on the clutch all the way. Before it only took like 2-3 tries before it would start my car, but lately it's been like 5+ tries.

FYI: I changed my battery last year so I know that's not the problem. Maybe need new sparks?

I'm not a big car genius so I don't know what else it would be.
Did you find the problem? I have the same issue, car only starts when I keep trying. I just dropped off my car in the dealer and they told me it may be the aftermarket alarm set up.

Damn, apparently I subscribed to this thread 10 years ago. No ****ing clue what was up with the car. I remember having a few problems with the car that were often fixed my resetting the ECU. There's a long pattern of gas pedal presses (found somehwere on the forum) that will reset everything and then your car will go through some checks on its next startup. Also, I'd try working the clutch real fast and hard while its off. There were issues with it being sticky and Im not sure what other problems it caused. Good luck.

These Infiniti’s are a pain in the *** lol. When I started up my car with the remote start it started beeping & after that it just wouldn’t start that’s why I think it’s the alarm system. Hopefully I get it fixed, I put in too much money in maintenance already haha

Definitely sounds like your aftermarket alarm/remote start is the problem.

The problem ended up being the bcm that went bad due to the alarm.
