New G35

I would first and foremost like to start off by saying hello to everyone on the forum.

Now on to the question...I am thinking about purchasing a used G35 and would like opinions on the best year and more importantly, things to look for in a G that would help me to recognize a good car from one that is a lemon or even worse, abused. I have already read the thread posted about the oil leaking into the sparkplug area of cylinder #6...any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

first welcome but you can find all your info using the SEARCH function
but if i were you id get a 05-06 G35 , the 05 has a better interior and revupp engine. the 06 has the upgraded interior as well but also has projector headlights upgraded taillights etc etc

OP, you and I are on the same boat. I'm looking for a used G35 as well. Why not a 07 instead of an 06?

What are some "issues" to be concerned with each model year? I hear about oil consumption issues in the rev-up motor versions.

^^ You are correct. If you do decide to get an 05, just make sure that it is still covered by the powertrain warranty in case it does have oil consumption problems.

I just recently went from a 2005 G35X Sedan to a 2006 Coupe. I couldn't be happier. Personally I'd look for an 06. I like the projector headlights and they even changed the way the tail lights look on the 06 coupe as well. make sure to do a good test drive before you make any decisions and look over the car closely. Most future problems can be avoided by not rushing into a decision based on wanting the car so badly.

Why not get the 07 g35 coupe? It would be the newest g35 you could get since it was the last year. But just the newest one you can afford.

Give CPO cars some serious thought.. even though there's not many around anymore for G35 coupes.

G35 is old enough now that getting an '07 model is a no brainer. Might as well get the very last model year so there's no if's, and's or but's about recalls, fixes, tweaks, service bulletins, etc.

'06-07 models are generally the "same" on paper... but you never know Only nissan internal engineers would really know.

get an 06 if your worried about price. there are no significant changes that would make it worth buying the 07 just try to find one with good miles and an 06 and your set. also dont buy ones with any mods as that usually could indicate the fun of the engine is probably gone. happy hunting
