Water alone does not have enough lubricity to keep your clearcoat swirl free or keeping abrasives from marring your paint. You can easily spend 10 bucks for some Gold Class Shampoo which will clean a lot better then just water and wont strip waxes or anything like that and keep your paint finish looking great.

Not using some type of soap is just dumb and makes you seem cheap( not saying you are well kinda )

The only time my car was washed by another person was when my car dealear washed it after maintenance and I always request "hand wash" only. Aside from that, I hand wash my own car.

I guess you care about what the neighborhood thinks more than driving a clean car. Both my cars are garage kept and I'm always using my CCC duster so they look great. My neighbors know I have OCD when it comes to my house, yards and cars, do I care?

I wash mine by hand once a week 90% of the time. Otherwise it's a touchless drive through. It does get dusty the day after, but that's why I keep it waxed all the time and keep a Cali duster in my trunk to dust it of once or twice a day. She's worth it...

Screensavers, you funny guy. My coupe never get dirty enough to use soap, it's not a garage queen but when I take her somewhere I use my car cover. Upon arriving home she get dusted with CCC duster, then damp chamois. Cheap, I spend $350 LB on my Zymol Concourse wax, that's how she got the name SLICK. No scratches or swirls ever!

Hand wash with Zaino products. I did take the X to a touchless afew times this winter.
I washed the coupe yesterday, followed by a rub-down with scratch X and finally a coat of Zaino!!
(had some hard rain spots and it was time for some scrub'n)

Duster is usually a good way to scratch a car. Quit using that. All it does is rub dirt around on your paint.

Two bucket method right here. Takes me an hour to wash my car.

I always hand wash. Too many horror stories about scratches from those automated ones. Plus I do a better job myself.

everything
Always by hand! I cycle thru about 6-7 microfiber towels each wash, always switching to a clean one, both during washing and drying. I buy a 12 pack of new micros about every 4 months. I have specific towels for wheels, tires, glass, and body.

I usually wipe it down with Quik Detailer once I pull it back in the garage after anywhere I go. That way it stays cleaner longer.

CCC FTL! All that thing does is grind dirt into your clearcoat

I used to take it to the car wash,

But then I cleaned it by hand one day using a good quality shampoo and the difference is night and day. I've never looked back since, Hand wash all the way.
