in regards to the search:
i believe most people would agree with me that the search engine isn't the best. i can always find the topic, but the format of reading individual posts is rather annoying. it makes it difficult to find concrete information, and very difficult to find something you previously read. also, old pictures are frequently deleted from the forum. perhaps an updated search engine that provides all posts on a page, just like present posts, will make this feature more effective.
in regards to not posting street races:
censorship does nothing to solve the problem. the one thing i respect about this forum is the variety of opinions posted. within every post about street racing, some individuals always speak about its dangers. in most cases, members share their own misfortunes and personal tragedies. there is a better chance of reaching people through this means rather than ban the topic. by banning the topic, members that lost a loved one during a street race could never voice their opinion. simply put, there is a better chance of reaching people by hearing others misfortunes. don't get me wrong, i know a lot of people will over look these stories, but it is more effective than not mentioning these posts at all.

Thank you for your input. The Search function will be drastically updated when we switch the site over. The person in charge, however, has a LOT on his plate, so we're not rushing him by any means. Next to moving a company and having a child, this is a small priority.
As for street racing- Do you honestly believe that we banned the topic of street racing just because we're killjoys? Do you think we did it to ban discussion of the deaths of loved ones?
No.
We did it because for every "I lost a loved one" post (There have been two that I recall, and one wasn't even street racing), there have been well over 500 others that have absolutely no redeemable values whatsoever. At least half of them did nothing but start fights (ie. "You couldn't beat that car, not with your setup!") because honestly, who brags about beating a car we all know we can beat?
About a quarter of them were purely fiction, created to start fights (ie. "I beat a lamborghini diablo!"). Guess where those went? Right.
The remaining ones did nothing but fuel the fire for more people to post their kills. Apparently this is some sort of way to measure a man. I didn't get the memo. They're far more trouble than they will ever be worth, as they kept us Mods and Admins on our toes 24/7 just putting out the fires from the arguments.
If you really find that they have redeeming value, I'm verry sorry, but this is not the site for you. We are working hard to make this an acceptable, mature community. That involves pruning all topics and members that have been deemed by logical reasoning to not fit the categories of "acceptable" or "mature".
If you lose a loved one to street racing, please feel free to post it. We're eliminating a type of banter by banning the topic in general, and I'd assumed most people would understand that. To post about the topic in a way that would not generate that would be acceptable, as you would receive condolences, not jeers.
