Same here man! Hahaha. I felt like a dumb *** for 5 minutes just standing there and scratching my head. Finally called the Inifiniti dealership and they told me how. hahahaha.

I'm glad I read this thread. Just picked up my G last Friday so I won't have to go through this with my first fill-up!

yeah mine broke too. but if you take the square locking nut off and push the mechanism back into the fender and use a lil silicone to fill the hole youre not out any money thats what i did bc it wasnt a big deal to me and mine broke at the gas station on E so when i was able to get a screwdriver and after fiddling with it for 10 min to get it open, i insured that it wouldnt happen again!

Same exact thing happened to me. Had to call the salesman and he had no idea. Had no owners manual so I found it in the quick look up book in the trunk. Hahaha!!!

Stopped at the self serve gas station to fill up for the first time and it felt like some sort of comedy.
First off, I drove up next to the pump as I would normally do to fill up on the driver's side.
Got out and walked around the car to find out that the darn car fills up from the passenger side.
Got back in and drove to another pump that was on the passenger side.
Got out and tried to figure out how to get the cover to open so that I could get to the cap.
No luck.
Pushed it a couple of times to see if it simply popped out.
Nope.
Looked around the driver seat to see if there is a latch like every other car I have owned in the last 20 years.
Managed to find the trunk release latch.
After scratching my head and looking I finally pulled out the owners manual and spent a minute scanning the manual.
The manual said that the latch is released by an inward push, at which point it will pop open.
I tried pushing and releasing every few inches around the entire cover.
Nothing.
All I could figure was that maybe the latch broke so I called the salesman who sold me the car and found out the last important tidbit which was in the owners manual if I had bothered to read the entire page carefully instead of just a quick scan.
Before the latch will work you have to push either the unlock button on the remote or the unlock switch on the door to unlock the latch to the cover.

Now I know.

+1. first day i got it i was at the gas station for 20 minutes. oh, and it wasnt self serve. the guy was getting pissed

Glad to hear that others have had a similar problem.

My wife laughed at me when I told her what I had done but I can guarantee she would have had the same problem if she had been the first one filling it up.

yeah the same thing happened to me when i first got my G. But what was worse, was that i already paid the gas people so it was kinda embarrassing that i had to go back inside and get a refund... then later came back when i figured it out LOL

i hate that the gas tank is on the right hand side, is annoying making U turns at gas stations or reversing to back into the pump. But at least in jersey it's not selved served
