On a cruise around my city...

So I'm up at one of my favorite overlook spots in the city right now leaning against the my car as the warmth of the engine sends chills up my spine, soaking up the breeze, gazing down at the city below me and listening to the sound of the beeps when trucks are backing up, the loud engines of the tractors and other assorted construction vehicles, clanks and loud bangs, people shouting (yes there's a **** ton of road work going on right now here) but amidst all this loud racket, it's so peaceful and quiet and soothing. The sight of our downtown colorful lights lighting up the horizon miles away, the whistling of the breeze, the smell of sagebrush.. All while I sit here with one of the many joys in my life, something I've saved up lunch money for since high school when I first laid eyes on it, something I take such great care of and take pride in making it a masterpiece that reflects my taste and style (which is severly limited by my budget unfortunately).. My G35.. But before I end my night, I would just like to share with all you my delightful cruise (for the most part... Damn construction zones that kick up all this sand and rock and force you to drive on bumpy-*** ungrooved pavement) around the city on McCarran Boulevard...

Windows down, music off, I start my journey with nothing but the sound of my tires chirping a bit as they grab the fresh new pavement and the engine's growl as I launch it off at the drop of a green light. Although I would love the extra punch with a turbo, it still is an exhilarating feeling feeling the car move at WOT as I row through my gears and quickly climb to the speed limit and beyond (I'll save that bit of detail to myself ). I do think the smoothness of shifting in the MT is sometimes hit and miss reguardless of skill, however I've pretty much gotten it down "hot knife through butter" smooth most of the time and when the car shifts smooth, it's freaken amazing.

There's a really nice area on McCarran when it winds through a bunch of hills through the really rich part of town and I absolutely love driving through those at night. It's so serene and the roads there are pretty smooth so I can always push it a little through those especially when no other cars are around and I can take up all the lanes. I had my windows down and listened to the "sound of speed" and the amazing "purring" of the stock exhaust I have (for now). I really do love the stock exhaust sound.. It just sounds so sweet, not a whole lot aggresive, but it's very distinct and I dunno.. I really love it... I wish I did have aftermarket tho for the performance gains and the sound of some of those setups are just.... Anyway... I just throw on my hi-beams and hold my RPMS about mid-range going into some of the curves so I have some good power coming out. I think the throttle response and "torquiness" is pretty spot on for our cars and I really appreciate it when I come out of the curves and lay a bit into throttle and feel it just pull. I don't have strut/sway bars and I have stock suspension (which will all change as time progresses) but I still feel the car is pretty smooth through curves and corners. Of course it's nothing compared to what it can do, but for complete stock suspension/handling setup it's pretty damn nice.

I turned a few heads at some stoplights going along the way... There were these guys in a Camry that were whistling at my car and it made me feel lol. When I was at the traffic light through the construction zones, the workers would turn and all look at my car. Hahah one even waved at me and gave me a thumbs up as I inched through the insanely narrow lanes that seem to only be able to fit a Mini Cooper through... I love the way our cars look. There's just nothing I can say to describe how beautiful I think it is. In my opinion no matter what future models come out after the G35's - better or worse - these cars will always be eye candy to me and I will always appreciate their hotness.

Well tonight I was able to test my car in every performance aspect it has to offer (again ) and within all its faults, nuisances, creaks and squeaks, this car is to me, perfect. I don't really care what all the haters have to say, I love this car and I will baby it and drive it until it drives no more.

So I guess this ends my long random post... There's no real meaning to it other than to share a specific experience for some of you bored folks out there who like to stay up late and do nothing like me. Just something to read I suppose... I had a rough night (GF problems ) so I needed to take a couple hours and drive around and it helps me cool down a bit when I write about stuff... And this is just what I happened to write this time.. Take it or leave it, sorry if I wasted anybody's time .

Oh some pictures that I took with the crappiest phone camera in the world: the iPhone camera. And for anyone who lives in Reno that happens to stumble upon this thread, if we ever do a local meet thing, we need to go to that overlook. It's amazing and these pictures don't do any justice lol.

(stupid wireless card thing... Crappy speed waiting for uploads =P) ...

...
..
.

The absurdly narrow lanes I was talking about earlier... It was pretty impossible to keep the car out of the little dip on the right side (the road is raised way up) without hitting the cones on the left... WTF are they thinking? I wasn't very happy about this segment

The Biggest Little City in the World

Once again iPhone cam = baddie.

Okay going home now bye!

Let's go cruising! Do some McCarren laps or something, hahaha

And were you at Windy Hill in Caughlin Ranch?

Nice write up, can't vouch for everyone but I think most of us feel the same. If you take care of her, she'll reward you with many miles of enjoyment & fun....

Yeah I was. I love that area it's so fun to drive (that's where I was when I was writing about the curves). The pics were up by the huge water tank by keystone and McCarren intersection, on top of the hill coming up from UNR. We'll for sure do a cruise sometime but after I get my car back from the bodyshop (and hopefully construction will be pretty wrapped up). Yay for new body parts =]

My first thought when opening the thread was that there's no way I'm reading that whole thing but after reading everyone’s reaction I couldn’t help it lol

So I read. My first reaction was "Damn I wish I wasn’t at work" I feel like driving right now.
