Smile DIY or Shop install?

Well guys i was sitting here wondering if i should get some buddies together to install my exhaust and such but i am also debating if i should just go to a shop and get it done.

Well the question is do you guys prefer to install everything by yourself or would you rather just have a shop install everything because its more official and they usually shouldnt mess up.

Its relatively easy to install bolt on exhaust systems. Just because a shop does installs doesn't mean thier necessarily any better.

If you have the resources and tools than DIY, it will be personnel satisfaction when done.

hyjack. What about installing Test pipes? Is that a DIY or a shop job?

It can be done yourself if you have the proper tools. What it comes down to is most jobs can be DIY's, but only if you have the proper tools. I've done most of my mods myself because I have many tools and I'm confident in the work I can do, but there are just some things I don't have the right tools for. Cats/test pipes for example: I don't have 2-3' of extensions to reach down through the engine bay to get to the bolts connecting the cats to the headers. I would pay the $50-60 our local shop would charge to throw them on.

My vote on the catback is DIY. It's a fairly easy job.

diy althought make sure you have loctite and wd-40 it took me 3 hours to get off my rsx header because the bolt connecting to the catback was so rusted it broke when coming off but it was an 03 and had been outside the entire time i had it and driven in snow etc.

I did my catback by myself, if you have the tools and the time go for it. You learn a lot, feel more accomplished, and save money for more mods!
