I know every ecu/chip for bmw de-limits the speed governor.

 

i think you were going over 130 the gauge just wasn't telling you the right speed. might be cause of the rim size. correct me if I'm wrong

 

On a closed track my 04 6mt went 170 with the speed limiter removed. I was at redline in 6th

 

i dont think sports package has anything to do with it

but im pretty sure that to hit Vmax in our cars you have to turn off VDC

 

Faster than 130 w/ VDC on is very possible.

 

are you boosted?! how cna you reach 170? BMW E46 M3's can barely hit 170 without mods.

and OP post set up... cause something smells fishy.

Mods were spacer, z-tube, drop in k&n, test pipes, HKS hi-power, 13 lb flywheel & stage 1 clutch, Osiris tune and a 50/50 mix of 104 and 93 octane. It took me forever to get there but I was at 7050 rpms at that speed...oh and 18x9 enkei rp03x4 which were 32lbs with tires

Yes! I do have the sport package. I wonder why my car didn't go faster then. Not too worried about it. I was just curious. I am not planning on going that fast (in my G35) anytime soon.
