Extreme Electrical problems.. Possibly selling car now.

Cliff notes at the bottom:

Hey guys, unless this is a cheap or easy fix I will be selling the car because this is just not right..

Alright, well I had the typical issue with the AC kicking on by itself and the radio display not working and buttons not working.. I actually had this for about a year now.. The issue goes away in the winter but always makes a comeback in really hot weather.. (live in AZ).

So recently the electrical issues are getting WORSE! Now, for one I can hear a clicking from under the driver side dash by the fuse box when I'm having that AC/ Radio issue. If I punch my center console on the side really hard the AC and radio work again and the clicking stops..

Second.. When it was around 113 out I went to my buddys toyota dealership to test drive some cars.. When I pressed the lock button on the remote the horn beep longer than the usualy quick *beep* I thought I was hearing stuff but I kept hitting the lock button and the horn would stay on longer.. More like *BEEEEP* like for a full second. Weird.. Really annoying and weird.

YESTERDAY.. Oh my ****ing god. Just about the most embarassing thing thats happened to me.

My buddies and I are riding in the G.. We pull up to a Panda Express, the patio is packed with people, the restaurant inside is packed with people and there are tons of people walking around the plaza.. I decide to back up the car right infront of the place.. Car is looking fresh and good with nice wheels, wide tires, lowered, debaged...

Its about 111 outside + pretty humid for some reason.. we all hop out. As were walking inside I press the lock button on my key fob and the horn stays on by itself and wont shut off.. Just straight up BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. We turn around and run back to the car.. Pop the hood and try to take off the battery and we have no tools.. Horn still blasting at us.. I try starting the car and no luck.. I keep pressing lock and unlock with no luck.. I tried putting the key in the driverside hole and turning it.. no luck.. So this is going on for a good 2 minutes.. Finally it stops..

So a little embarassed we go to walk in again and I pressed lock.. Then again. the horn lays on itself and it stuck.. ****ING ****!! So we pop the hood and I try to rip the horn out by hand and it doesnt work.. I can't unplug the harness cause my hands are too big so my friend reaches in there and unplugs one.. The other horn keeps going on.. WTF? So finally I pull out the fuse 15a by the battery and that stops it.. Everyone is laughing at us now and I am embarassed.. we just hop in the car and leave.. As I'm driving I notice that my air bag light is blinking at me.. This is the first time I've seen this happen since I've owned the car (2.5 years now)..

So beside the story there and beside the LOL's @ me.. Can anyone help? This actually really painful to me.. It sucks so bad.. There is always major problems I'm running into with this car.. Finally I am almost done and now this..

I am in the process of searching for other cars right now so I can get rid of this one.. If I can fix this easily I'll keep the G but this is downright disgusting. Now my car looks like a POS in front of all my friends who drive mustangs and scions.. Why? Why? Why? How? How? How? This freaking SUCKS!

If it matters.. 03 coupe 5AT

Cliffs: Horn is stuck on, AC has a mind of its own, Radio display wont work.. Buttons on center console wont work.. Airbag light flashing.. Clicking from under driver side dash..

Sounds like you have an electrical short somewhere... my neighbor just had a similar issue with his car.

He does not have a heat guard on his battery and the shop said that in really hot weather (95+ and high humidity in TX summers) the battery actually starts to boil and his electrical harnesses near the battery fried - he couldn't get his car out of park and the electrical seats were very sporadic... the dealership was able to run diagnostics to find this - might check with infiniti if you haven't already...

Just some thoughts... sorry about your luck man - but funny story!

Jeeze, yeah see there are just so many variations as to what it could be.. This is what I hate about electrical issues.. You trying every solution and waste time and money..

The search function sucks on this forum so it took me forever to find people with this issue.. Its pretty rare.. Only a few people have had this and it all has soemthign to do with heavy rain/ water..

yeah dude - electrical issues are the worst... but once you find the issue - you can tackle it, and an Infiniti/Nissan dealer may be able to help with that part... good luck!!!

You seem to have an issue with the center console control panel which the dealer would be the best place to get a diagnosis. Maybe you could get an estimate for looking at it which can apply to the repair. Even if you don't use the dealer for the fix, you will get an idea of what your options are.

Your best bet would be the dealership, Don't waste time. just pay for the diagnostics. they will let you know what the exact issue is.

Do you have any aftermarket stuff like alarm system or audio equipment, if so look there first for the problems.

That really sucks, yeah Nissan/Infiniti should be able to fix it.
