Question about intake setup

A while back I bought a ztube/ pop charger combo from the marketplace. I went to San Jose 2 weeks ago, and now the car feels all laggy. Wasn't heatsoak as it was 75 most of the way back, so I figure it's a dirty filter. So I took this opportunity to buy a K&N drop in filter and am gonna put my stock airbox back on with the ztube. NOW, do you leave that bottom induction thing on or not? Does it matter if I have the front air dam thing on, because I am missing clips from the previous owner and it won't stay on. And can you do any sort of swiss cheese mod to it to make it flow any better, or am I better off just leaving it like it is so as little heat as possible gets in? Thanks!

have you thought the laggy response might caused by a dirty MAF sensor? Do you notice decrease of mpg too?

No decrease of MPG, just decrease in power significantly under 4k rpm

the ECU probably adjusted to the pop charger thus making the car feel laggy...

but it probably has more pep in its step on the top tho ya?

Nacho, did you reset the ECU or at least remove the negative side of your battery during install of the pop charger? Filters don't get dirty enough in this short of time to make a difference. Just for fun clean your MAF sensor and make sure everything's tight within the z-tube/pop charger and reset the ECU....

Well, I did the pop charger before my plenum spacer, and I made sure to reset my ECU when I did my spacer, so it has been reset months ago when I did that. It's got more pep in it's step up top, but that might be because of the 1/2" spacer, haha. I'm still gonna try the stock airbox with a K&N and ztube and see if I feel any difference down low. That's where I need more power anyways.

o I took off the pop charger and the filter was FILTHY! Put the stock air box on with the K&N high flow filter. It feels a lot better when accelerating under 4k rpms. I may try to mod my stock air box to work with the pop charger cone filter, but I dunno

I agree with Nachocheese guys, I to have the popcharger and felt like I had lost low end power? I reinstalled the factory system with a k&n filter and the throttle response was better. I put the popcharger back on because I like the look under the engine compartment, but I fill that the factory sealed airbox is best for the car. I feel like the open filter under the hood draws more hot air in therefor causing the lag and decreased performance of the engine. Just my 2 cents..............
