Headlight Aim Help - URGENT!
Headlight Aim Help - URGENT!
Hi Guys,
Looking for some advice, am based in the UK.
My g35 recently failed its MOT due the headlight aim being too high, the garage have defintely stripped out the adjustment gears and snapped one of the housings (even though they deny this). Is there;
a) any other way of manually adjusting the aim so I can get the car through its MOT? Going to look at maybe going in from behind the wheel arch with a pair of pliers
or
b) purchasing replacement gear/housing set
Any advice very much appreciated, Ive filed a complaint against said garage but my car is off the road until I get the aim issue sorted
Thanks
Sai

My gears are slightly stripped also but I just find a way to some how wedge a screw driver and maybe some other tool in there if needed and just use a bit of force to make it grip and push it wherever it is necessary.

As a very short term "solution", can you just let some air out of the front tires and over inflate the rears a bit?
As I type this, I forsee it's going to end up as someone's signature quote, but I'm just trying to brainstorm a way to get you through the inspection until a more permanent fix can be made.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses..I may well be forced to deflate the fronts as a very short term solution, worse case Ill upgrade the headlights
Going to try a pair of pliers in a bit as I can just about free up enough space removing the wheel arch plastic guard......

Lol...no win situation springs to mind! Think I may have managed to tweak it enough to lower the beam and enable passing, going to look at upgrading the lighting now as nowhere seems to stock the housing/gears...got a guy at work who may be able to fabricate one up so we'll see.....
