Clutch problem, anyone?

I don't know if it's just me or not, I noticed that the clutch on my G is not really wanting to let go. I have had my G for about a year with 15k km on the car. At first, I thought it needs to run in, but it's still the same. I have driven a lot of manual transmission vehicle before, nothing ready like this, not ever a 350Z. I have driven a couple G35C with manual and they are all the same. Anyone ever noticed that??

Re: Clutch problem, anyone?

wouldn't call it a problem..... but this clutch/tranny system is not very forgiving at normal speeds. i can shift most consistently smoothly when i run it out and shift at 4-5k rpms. it also shifts fairly smoothly at very low rpms. but the everday speeds we all like to travel at are a b**ch to get consistently smooth. i try to look at it as a challenge but some days when i'm tired i just gun it so i don't have to be so precise.

i test drove a 350z and it was even harder to shift smoothly than the G.

by the way all my other cars are stick and have no trouble with smooth shifts, however, the G has the most torque so maybe that has something to do with it.

sometimes i think that the shifting may be electronically assisted because no matter what i try i just have a heck of a time getting a smooth shift in any gear.

What I mean is that the disengagement point is so unclear. This clutch is just not a good clutch at all, I have never had this problem before on my 15 years of driving stick. I am quite disappoint on this, I guess Nissan is not quite up to the standard on the gearbox engineer. Unlike my previous car, ITR. I believe Honda really have the best gearbox out of all. It's just so precise and easy to shift. The disengagement point is so clear...

Totally agree -- I was just saying it to a buddy that it does not shift into gear nicely at normal speeds. Not sure if the 05 is better.

I have 24k miles on my G and I have noticed that the shifting is not as smooth as it once was. I took her to the dealership and I they will check out the manual trans and the clutch. They said that if I wore out the clucth they would not cover it ..

I have the same issue ... I have 17K miles on my G and I can't shift smoothly under daily driving conditions (shifting below 3k RPM). It's smoother when I shift around 4K RPM or above ..... But our manual tranny is pretty bad ... I can't believe a Civic has a better shifter than us (my opinion !). This is one of my major complains about the G and unfortunately, it won't stop.

skyline810-

Just a thought here. If the disengagement point varies it might be a good idea to bleed the clutch hydralics. I have NO idea if this is the problem (or, indeed, if the durn thing can be bled). But it occurred to me that this would be an inexpensive fix (I like those best) if it worked.
