G35 TT or Supra dilema

I am having a dilema. I went to my tuner shop and was ready to sign a check to order all the stuff to do a Greddy TT, exhaust, gauges, plenum, safeguard unit, wideband, etc., but when I was there I learned that one of their frequent customers is thinking about selling his '94 6mt 700hp Supra with 80k miles total and 40k miles on the new motor for $37k. For less than the amount of money I was going to spend turboing my G (approx 10k) I could sell my '03.5mt coupe with 10k miles and put up a few extra grand (less than the 10k I was going to spend) to get the Supra. What would you do? What do you think would be a more reliable car, especially as a daily driver? I know the G is new and all but once you turbo a NA motor aren't you decreasing its reliability anyway? I know the interior of the Supra can't compare to Gs, but you would have to spend so much more money to get power numbers anywhere even close to the Supras. I guess my actual question is would you turbo the G with all the extras to hope for 400hp ,or sell the G and get the 10 year old 700hp Supra (when you know it has a good history)?

Re: G35 TT or Supra dilema

think of it this way...do u REALLY require that much horsepower? are u gonna be racing every car on the street or is it all gonna be for show? yes, it IS a supra, but turboing the G will be WAY more fun...but then again u cant go wrong with a supra =)

Re: G35 TT or Supra dilema

i just dont personally ever think of spending around $40k on a 10 year old car. Even if its well kept and a supra, its gonna have its problems alot sooner. The TT kit is going to make your G a high maintainance car but you want the power, also as he said above... do you REALLY need 700hp?. Its about how you want to spend your money, and if your love for the supra is more than the love for the G
just my 2 cents

You can get cheaper Supras and have fun with them instead of buying an already built up one. That is if you really want to play with a turbo application. While the Supra is a legend, the G35 is still 10 years newer.. and will be more reliable for sure.

I have to admit I saw a sweet 300zx TT today that revved at me for kicks. I was jealous for sure.

Another question is can you ever have too much money? In my book that is a definate NO! Just like money more horse power the better. You don't have to use it everyday but its good to know you have it. =)

Answer = the Supra
When the R(V)35? comes out you can at least have a match against it. Even if the car is 10 years old I still turn my head to stare at it. Depends on what you want out of the car. Power or Luxury.

Re: G35 TT or Supra dilema

Personally, I'd get the supra: hands down. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the G, but I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to own my dream car. Its all about your personal taste. Although it would be bada$$ to own a TT G . Man, I think I may be changing my mind as I write..... I wish I had to make a tough decision like this! haha..

Either way, Good Luck & Post Pics !

Re: G35 TT or Supra dilema

I think that's too much $$$ for a '94 even though it's modded out.

When I was looking for a supra a while back, I found a few on autotrader.com that were '97's. I wanted one with less than 30K miles that was as close to stock as possible. There were a few at just over $40K that fit my description.

If you like doing a little research and choose what mods you want to put in, I would suggest looking at a newer model with fewer miles that's close to stock. Then you can spend a few grand to get 400+ to the wheels or more to get closer to 700+.

Re: G35 TT or Supra dilema

I would honestly buy a Viper GTS before I would pay that much for a 10yr old Supra - sure they are awesome cars (a lot rarer than G's on the road) but it isn't a Viper (which can easily be had for $40k with less than 25k miles)

Build up the G, Sure the Supra is a nice car(my dream car before the G) but i would rather create soemthing than buy something already made up.

Re: G35 TT or Supra dilema

Which Supra is it.. the TT? If it is, then GET THAT BIOTCH!!! You gotta love the superiority of the GTE block.. 700hp I say is conservative.. go for 1000!

Those cars are just amazing machinery. It still looks beautiful to this day.. definitely a head turner!
