I know I am new here, but here's a little back story

2006 G35 Coupe, no spoiler

I was informed about 2 weeks ago that my 3rd brake light was out. I got on here and did some reading to find out if it might be a loose wire or something simple to fix, only to find out that it's apparently a problem that quite a few people are having. I wrote an email to infiniti explaining my concern that a $250 part only lasts 4 years.

Today I recieved a call from Infiniti themselves, told the person I talked to that I just wanted to make sure the company knew that it was a problem and none of my past cars have ever had that happen after such a short time.

The lady at the end of the call ended up giving me a credit for $250 to cover the cost of the light at the dealership (light is $248.35). So basically I am getting a new 3rd brake light for tax on the original cost.



Just wanted to share this with you all in case you are having the same problem

 

my dealership quoted me 500 for my 3rd brake light...it works about 40% of the time though, so im not sure what to do...

 

Wasn't there a recall for these third brake lamps going out? I believe it was on the early G35s and the I35s.

 

accel0r8 - if you want i can give you the # to the dealership near me that had the part for 250.

felixsc300 - The admin lady I spoke with said something about a recall then said "oh wait nevermind" so you may be correct


On another note I got in the car today and since it was still dark I checked the rear view when i stepped on the brakes and guess what decided to work...until I got to the end of the street then no more light.

Does anyone have a schmatic for this??

 

I'm having trouble wiring an LED light to the wires coming out of the right side of the trunk. When I connect the wires the LED light stays ON. Any suggestions? As this light should only be controlled by the brake pedal...
