Re: insurance 350 vs. G35 C
When I contacted my insurance, they said it be cheaper on the G35 due to the fact that the G35 is considered a coupe and the 350z is considered as a sports car.

Yes, the G coupe insurance is slightly cheaper since it's a 4-seater. Don't quote me on this, but I remember the insurance rate on the Z being about 30% higher.

Boy, that really speaks to the accident stats on 2-seater sports cars doesn't it? When you think about it, the 350Z and G35C are virtually the same car, the biggest difference being that the G can carry 4 passengers. In a worst-case scenario, that could mean twice as many deaths, liabilities, legal expenses...on and on...into the megabucks for the insurance company. It's pretty amazing that the (presumed) accident rate on a nearly identical 2-seater is enough to offset all of that by 30%.

30%? Wow thats more than I would have guessed. Nonethelss it makes sense, afterall just consider the driving habits of those who would buy a two seater vs a four. In all honesty I think that 350Z drivers push it to the limit more often than G35 drivers. Plus I am sure the average age of 350z drivers is noticably younger.

Actually, I think it depends where you live. Here in NJ, I was in the process of shopping for a new car, and the 350Z, along with the G35c were on my list. When getting insurance quotes on both cars, the 350Z was only $200 more per year, so that's about 10% more than what I pay for my G35c.

I just traded in a sedan for a coupe and my insurance went up $10 for the whole year...LOL but when I asked about the 350z they told me it would be 20% higher due to being a 2 seater and a out and out sports car, not like the coupe.
