Is there another post here with a LIME GREEN HATCHBACK somewhere...??! lol
To each his own... if you're planning to do some shows, etc... go for it. But if it's a daily driver, I'm not sure about it... =\ Might make it too ricey...

I think doing custom paintjobs and whatnot fit the west coasters more than the east. Since you're out over there and you're probably going to do shows, I'd say.. HELL YEAH!.. DO IT MANG, DO IT!

As long as you're not talking an extremely custom hue, big flakes, etc., I don't think a simple color change to a color that wasn't offered is going to make it "look too ricey" all on it's own. Many more parts should come into play (or at least a wild paint job) before the ricey term is thrown about.
IMO, if their is a metallic or pearl color offered from the factory, those colors tend to look a bit more nice/luxury-oriented. I always opt for the nicer color if stuck between two. So my advice is to pick a basic color you want (regardless if offered as OEM) and then start to tweak the color toward a nice pearl, metallic or candy. The more custom you go with the hue then the more custom your ride will look. This can be good or bad, depending on your persepective and intentions for the car.
