What parts legal and illegal?
So yeah i just got my stock 06/07 G35 Coupe and trying to figure out what is legal here.
I currently live in TX and moving to Cali in about a year.
I want to put a Nismo CAI or a Injen CAI on it.
I heard both of them is illegal in Texas or California, or only in California?. Correct me if i'm wrong.
So what should i do? can i still put it on without having any troubles?
i tried looking for stuff that is illegal on a G35 but it only shows 350Z's about Nismo CAI

Everything is illegal in CA.
But I definetly wouldn't worry about installing a CAI.
It really depends on where you live in Cali, some places are harsher than others.
Unless you're going to be doing some serious modding, ie (FI, headers, test pipes) don't even sweat it.
Enjoy your future mods.

^ What he said. A simple CAI isn't going to hurt.
And if you're gonna live in somewhere that's densely populated, like Los Angeles, San Francisco, or San Diego, then you'll be dealing with stricter emissions.

Daam seriously? so since i currently live in Texas it would be ok for CAI. Next year moving back to Cali in San Francisco, so i have to go through a smog check and they will ask me to remove it or something? Do i even have to go through a smog check?
Most CAI's are smog legal though, even in Cali.
I moved from California to Texas...why anyone would go the other way is beyond me but I digress.
LightsOut has the best mantra to live by when modding in California. Be prepared for a thorough visual inspection of all things that don't matter (intakes, vac hoses, etc.) and ignoring of all things that do (lights, brakes, tires, etc.) CAI are all illegal in CA unless it has a CARB sticker. A lenient inspector (think outside of major cities) may let it slide without a sticker though because anyone with half a brain knows that the affect of a CAI on emissions is negligible. No car is going to fail a sniffer test due to a CAI. In major cities, you may even run into inspectors who won't even touch your car if they see that you have aftermarket parts on it regardless of CARB sticker or not (this has happened to me). And yes, you definetely need to have a full SMOG check on a dyno in order to register the car in CA.
Say hello to 91 octane fuel too.

So what i can do is file some paper work for CARB or something?
so i go here
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/forms/forms.htm i gotta sign Form A and mail it to the address right?
Sorry if i am asking too much, i have never dealt with this before.
Nononono you are WAAAYYYY off!! When you are looking at intakes you want just check with the seller if it is CARB legal and has the sticker. You don't go get your individual intake tested and approved, manufacturers get them approved if they can when they make them. So you just have to find one that is CARB approved and you can run it and smog with it with no problems, also if it has the sticker cops can't bother you about it either.
And get ready to join the only state in the US besides Hawaii worth living in!

True but I don't see how anyone who had a carb legal intake with sticker getting a fix it, if the cop is that damn stupid complain and have them call in another officer or a supervisor and have them check. Even if you get the ticket it isn't like you would ever have to pay it, it would be dismissed with extreme ease.
