Re: Engine Failure (again) Need Advice

My engine has also failed. The dealership origninally blamed it on my driving habits. It was later determined that the car burned over a quart in the first thousand miles of driving after an oil change. A compression test and leak down test were done. The dealership determined that there was a failure on the left side of the engine but did not specify what that failure was. Infiniti wants to replace the long block -basically the entire engine. I'm not satisfied with this. BTW, as far as I can tell my tail pipe isn't smoking either.

Assuming you haven't done anything to the car that may have caused the problem, DEMAND that a leak down and compression test be done. As far as I understand it, that's the only way to know for certian whether there is a problem with the short block. Moss-Magnision puts the burden on the Nissan to demonstrate that you've done something to cause the problem. They can't do that without undertaking reasonable tests.

Go to lemonlaw.com. Its a law firm that handles lemon law cases exclusively. It may be able to help depending on what state you are in. You are definately not alone in this.

Re: Engine Failure (again) Need Advice

tonio, you are not alone. I had engine failure on my sedan 6 weeks ago due to excessive oil consumption. Check out my thread:
https://g35driver.com/forums/showfla...sed&sb=5&part=
There is a ton of info in that thread to arm yourself with when you are dealing with the service people/consumer affairs.

The bottom line is the dealership MUST prove that your mods caused the engine failure. They will not be able to do this. Stand your ground and DO NOT give in. After three weeks of BS, they finally agreed to repair my G under warranty. I am having my long block replaced as I write this.

Email me if you need any advice skeletoncru@sbcglobal.net

If they can prove the technosquare caused the problem, yes.

Oh man I just spend nearly an hour reading that whole thread. I hope that I dont have a quarter of the problems that you had SC with the repair but it's good to hear that you got it taken care of. Def a good thread for anyone that thinks that they may have to deal with these issues and thank god for G35driver cause I wouldn't be able to fight a battle like that one alone most likely.

Re: Engine Failure (again) Need Advice

Pretty interesting update.. I took the car to another dealership and they changed the oil and marked everything dealing with the oil I assume? I'm told nothing can be touched and to bring it back in at 3000 miles.

Because I know I wont make 3000 miles without adding oil I asked if I can add oil. The answer was basically it doesn't matter if the engine locks up before bringing it back in, just do not touch anything. So here we go..
