Loud pop

Was on my way to work today and I heard a loud pop almost sounded like something small like a baseball hit my car. I pulled over and didnt see anything so I left. About 2-3 mins later I started to smell something burning. When I got to work I checked everything out from top to bottom. Still nothing. I just got my G less than two months ago and it only has 42k on it. All I`ve done is the z-tube and grounding wires. Is this is just another wierd sound the G makes? Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks in advance.

Maybe you ran over something and something under the car broke off and is resting against the exhaust and melting? Try to put it up on ramps tomorrow and take a closer look under there for things that might be out of place or visibly broken or resting against the exhaust... particularly the cat. converters(those get really hot).

A couple of months ago I ran over a plastic bag on the highway. Since then, I've got chunks of plastic melted to my Y-pipe that I can't get off and it smells every time I drive the car.

^Yeah, I didn't think to try to torch it off. Luckily the majority of the smell has gone away by now but its still evident. It was funny going to meets and everyone is looking around trying to figure out whats burning.

Lol, thanks for the replys guys. I put it up on jack stands yesterday and looked over everything. Found nothing so I must of just ran over something and it hit the undercarriage. Ran over a guys Oil filter one time as it fell out from under his car, kinda had the same sound. Got a good laugh from it. What would we do with out wal-mart? Yeah I pulled over and helped him out, I laughed but Im not a *****.
