how do i turn on the heater? ...just turn on ac then up the temp??? is the little "ac" light supposed to stay lit? thanks

 

From owner's manual:
Heating (A/C off)
1. Push AUTO button (AUTO will be displayed)
2. Push A/C button to turn off A/C. The A/C button indicator will turn off.
3. Push temp set button to desired temp.
- In heat mode, do not set temp lower than outside temp. Otherwise system may not work properly.

 

If you want plain heat, there is no need for A/C unless you specifically want humidless hot air. Just turn on the vent and bump the temp - you'll get air that's being warmed by the engine - more fuel efficient.
