Is this for real? People can't open your gas cover??? In the entire automotive industry there are only two main ways, to just pull the door open or push it in and it just pops out. The G is no exception to this.
As for the gas cap holder, I don't blame them for that. It's really not gonna hurt your paint to have the thing dangling like that and if you know how to take care of your paint, if any damage does occur from the dangling gas cap, you can easily fix it yourself.
Your best bet is to choose one gas station and stick with that one. The employees will get used to the little things with filling up our G's like the gas cap holder and the way the door opens, and they will be more respectful of your car in general since you are a "regular".

when i got my g from the dealer the salesman said the doors had to be unlocked for it to open.ive never really put that to the test (doors be locked or unlocked) but i have never had a problem opening it.
