clunky tranny?

i have a 5at, is it normal to be kind of clunky when going from park to reverse, or reverse to drive? not huge, but definitely noticeable.

If you mean the momentary lack of noticeable engagement followed by the push you feel, then yes, that's any car with a driveshaft - the shaft has a little slack most likely, and you are feeling it take that up.
