Auto parts store, AutoZone etc. should have an ODBII scanner they can hook-up and pull the codes for you, noting the code number is more important than the description they will give you. There is also a procedure somewhere on this forum where you can pull them yourself using the accelerator, and ignition switch in a specific sequence. Then you count the number of flashes of the light (I don't like it, so 80's)

For my previous coupe when i first pulled the car out of the shop after getting headers, intake, cats, exhaust, ecu flash it was kind of shaking and the RPM 's were dropping a lot then the service engine soon light came on.. it got so bad to the point were when i was taking it to the mechanic the next day everytime i came to the lights it would turn off then it wouldint stay started up unless i kept my foot on the gas so i had to pop it into drive ( my older one was a auto the one i have now is 6mt )... while holding the gas... i was freaked out as to what was wrong...
mechanic walked outside, opened the hood took a quick look then grab a screw driver tightened the clamp that keeps the intake connected.. started it up and was good to go ....
Although for sure its something different for you.
