Hi guys, so I just bought a 06 coupe.

It has no smart key remote as the previous owner lost it.

So I looked at a couples keys on ebay and they run for about $40.

I have seen a thread that I can self proram this key since its not the remote

that also starts the engine. ( so mine will have remot and a actual key for ignition).

However, they say that I have to get a remote with right fcc id.
Fcc id is normally at the back of the remote. But since i dont have the current
remote, how can i figure out which fcc id on the remote would work with my car??


It is too expensive to buy at a stealdership, as they would charge $180 for the remote and $70 for programming. Its freaking insane!

 

good luck. half the time those aftermarket key fobs dont work anyways lol

 

Get the aftermarket and then let the dealership program it. If you wanna be safe, just go to the dealer for the remote too

 

what i am trying to find out is that even fcc id on my new remote is different than my original one, will the dealer still be able to program it?

 

i thought 06 coupes didn't come with intelligent keys.

 

I would call them in the morning and ask, but knowing the dealer, they'll bs you can tell you to get it from them
