Exclamation Clicking/Ticking noise from Engine! Help!

So I searched both here on Driver and on my 350z but I couldn't find much information. On some of the other threads, people were saying "This is normal, the VQ is a noisy engine..." Let me assure you, this is NOT normal. Anyways, I could really could use some help guys.. Here's my situation:

I started my car this afternoon and noticed something was severely wrong. Initially the SES light came on, the car began to shutter, then the RPMs dropped and the car died. I tried to start it up again, but it took much longer than usual for the car to start (~4-5 sec. vs. ~1 sec.) The first time the engine started up, it died again. Then the second time, the car was idling REALLY rough, and the exhaust had a really bad lope to it (Similar to cam lope.) At this point I popped the hood and could visually see the engine shuttering. The hood prop and the hood were shaking, not violently, but very noticeably. The biggest issue is this: There is a loud clicking noise coming from the driver/rear side of the engine. This is obviously my biggest concern. This "clicking" runs in parallel to engine RPM (higher RPM, faster clicking.) Diagnosis/ideas/possibilities?

Tomorrow I am going to get the codes read, but I would like to have a little info on possible problems. I can shoot a video of the noise if people need me to. You guys help is greatly appreciated.

-Sean

Lol thanks for the overwhelming responses guys! Turned out to be cylinder 4 misfire (P0304.) Changed the coilpack and all is good now. It felt like something much worse, I'm glad it was a inexpensive fix.

Yeah, the part was $100+tax from autozone, and it only took 5 minutes to change.

Sorry to hear that. Did you have a question to go along with this or are you just posting it here so that people know that this problem is happening to others as well?
