need more help!!

if i'm on the highway, and i'm going 65mph suddenly there is a turn and i have to slow it down to 40 mph, so can i just change gear from 6 and jump to 4th while i hit the breaks or do i have to switch gear from 6 to 5th while the car is slowing down, then from 5th to 4th??

you don't even need to drop to 4th, you could be in 5th at that speed no problem.

but yes, you can go from 6th to 4th without shifting to 5th.

Make sure the clutch is always pushed in before shifting. the only gears that are problems to go into are 1st (which has a "block" to stop you from shifting into it unless you are going really slow/stopped) and reverse, which obviously you don't want to go into unless you are stopped.

Peter here's a bit of advice my Dad told me, "Never rest you foot on the clutch pedal unless your shifting!" That goes for the brake pedal too, I see so many drivers on the freeway going 80MPH with their brake lights flashing. They'll be the ones complaining about short pad life....
