Bought my 1st G35 today! Have a few questions tho.

Hi all. Im new to the forum. Today, i drove from Connecticut, down to Queens NY to get a 2004 G35 Coupe. Black on black 6 speed manual, sport pkg. It has 75k and i got it for 15,750, and with a 4 year unlimited mile warranty, its 17,195.

So i got it home, and i noticed, one of the belts are squeeking once in a while, it will let out a little chirp. Normal thing to replace on these?

Also, the clutch, it releases kind of high. I heard this is normal for these?

terrible pic... gotta get some better ones up there. Its prob your serpentine belt. Check and see if there are any cracks in it. If so, replace it. Could also just be a squeak from the belt tensioner. Not a major problem but would annoy the **** out of me.

And since your new here, im gonna help you out a little... Before you ask any questions which prob have been asked on here a time or 2 before, search very well first, then if you cant find the answer you are looking for, post the question. This will keep the haters off your back for being a noob and asking a question that already has an answer somewhere on this forum!

Anyway, welcome to the club! Good luck with your new car!

How does recommending new members use the SEARCH button make us haters? They don't know what to do when they have a question, so rather than making a new thread using the SEARCH is the answer. Haters are those individuals that key your car because they're jealous....nuph said! If your belts squeak check for wear and replace them with OE belts!

^^ I wasn't targeting you gary, so dont take it personal, but you know as well as I do that there are quite a bit of people here on the forum who dont simply say in a poilite manner to do a search first. Most of the time it goes something like this...

example: "why didnt you search before posting the same friggin question thats been answered on here a 1000 times! see how easy it is boys and girls to use the search function... I found it in 2 seconds!"

to a new member that is not very welcoming and it happens on here A LOT! Either way, i was giving the new guy a heads up. So f*ck the haters and enjoy the forums! There is a wealth of knowledge here if you take the time to find it. WELCOME once again!

There are a couple of DIY mods that may help with the high release. I have done them myself. You can check out these mods if you want. The first one here was done by me, but i wasnt the originator of this mod, i dont know who that credit goes to.

The high release is a 'feature' of the 6MT. Think positive and just tell yourself over and over that its 'sporty' and that spilling your coffee and stalling your car at a light is just part of driving a high performance car!

Just kidding. Consider doing the clutch mod listed above or just get used to it. It has taken me about 4 months but I've gotten used to the clutch and decided not to mess with it for now.

And yes, they really, really, really want you to do a search on this site. They'll tell you for pages and pages and pages how important it is to do a search in order to save bandwidth. Seriously though, once you get past a few quirks (just like any other forum) this site is a good resource with good folks.

Second attempt picture much better. Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the forum!

As written before, there is a lot of good information here buried among a lot of bad information. The search function usually does a pretty good job of pulling up answers to questions.

After you've been here a while, you'll understand why members encourage the use of search. Just the other day there were seven different threads on the first page about power window problems.

Congratulations! what a feeling it is to drive out with a G huh? you made a really good choice. I was in your shoes not too long ago. just keep up with maintenance and your car will be rock solid. I haven't had any issues with my car ever since i bought it 8 months ago. its been on a cross country trip too. no problems whatsoever.
