Question Hi, possible new G35 owner but I have a few questions

Hi guys,

I've been looking at the '04-'06 G35's and was curious if they were notorious for any kind of specific failures. Is there any specific production years I should stay away from?

Also, how are the automatic transmissions on these cars? I love MTs but I have bad knees and during the winter months it almost becomes unbearable

Anyhoo, thanks for the space. I look forward to your replies. Oh yeah, fwiw, what is your opinion on this car? Is it a good deal? http://tinyurl.com/2fbwt99 (autotrader link)

I'm really excited and looking forward to joining this community.

Tony

welcome! yeah it really depends on the years for the G. like i own a 05 and never had any problems whatsoever. all i have done is just the regular oil changes every 4k but other then that its superb! mine is automatic. and for the car that you linked, its not that bad. i think you can maybe haggle the price down a tad bit tho :] good luck finding your G tony!

Lol none of the years have any huge devastating issues..
A large part of this message board is for people to come to who have a problem and want help.
People who have their cars running fine aren't gonna post that.

It depends on your maintenance and the past owners maintenance.. how you drive it, etc..
I have an 03 now.. and it's keeping up better than my previous 04.

That car seems like a sweet deal.. but I'm in Canada.. and everything costs a bajillion times more up here

Just a head up, that wheat seats gets dirty fast, specially if you wear dark color jeans.

What???? My 03 Coupe was a 5at. I traded it off with about 76k miles. The tranny would not even shift into 5th for about 10+ miles of interstate driving. Amongst many other issues the 03 was suffering from. 2+ qts of oil GONE every 5k miles. Not leaking, not smoking, no residue on the back of the car...

Historically the auto's have been very dependable, but there are exceptions ^^, that car you are looking at looks pretty good, go check it out and offer them $15k !

I had an 06 AT. Both of the window motors died on me. Other than that it was pretty good.
