Got my first ticket in my G...

...on basically the one year anniversary of my getting the car friggin' car.
Anyway, I got nailed for going 48mph in a 35mph zone. My V1 was blaring too. I didn't look down at my speedometer because I didn't think I was going over the limit. I'm not saying I didn't actually go that fast, the G usually feels slower than it actually is, but this really sucks.
For this offense, should I just pay the fine and forget about it or is there some way I can fight it? This is in Minnesota.
Anyway, sorry for venting here. Any advice would be apprieciated.

I've always heard that you should ask to see the radar reading, and supposedly if they can't show it to you, they can't give you a ticket.

Anyone try this?

In CA, you can go to traffic school (only once every 18 months) to prevent any points from going on your record.

Re: Got my first ticket in my G...

Well, I guess that sucks for me then. I barely even talked to the cop when he pulled me over. Since I didn't even look down at my speedometer, I really wasn't sure if I was speeding or not. When my V1 was going off, I definitely felt that I was well within the speed limit. I guess I should always confirm my feeling by looking at the speedo.
What really pisses me off is that I bought the V1 for the express purpose of avoiding speeding tickets. It worked just like it was supposed to and I still get caught. I guess I should be pissed at myself more than anything.
Anyway, thanks for the comments guys.

Re: Got my first ticket in my G...

For years I went without any speeding citations...get the Coupe and Bang three in three months. I will say the last one was written for 85 in a 70. Desert highway. The officer checked me out, paperwork was fine...we chatted for a bit and he told me I was running 102 mph...I belive he was right as I know I was running damn near 100. He said "I'll write this for 85, and watch these cars they are just to damn fast". I said thank you, shook his hand and proceeded to get off the exit for gas a mile or so down the interstate. He saw me there and offerd to buy me a cup of coffee. Can you beat that.

Cops always pull that $hit as a psychological trick dude!

They will always say "you were doing XXX, but I'll only write you up for XX." That way, you think the cop is being a nice guy and you're not as mad at him. But you still have a $300 ticket in your hand. Did the cop's badge say Officer Kutcher? Because You got punk'd!!

Re: Got my first ticket in my G...

That sucks about the ticket. I don't know about getting them fixed in Minnesota, but I do know that when I got my ticket here (not on the G, hadn't gotten it yet), I just paid it and didn't get points on my license. I heard this is true up till 15 mph over (I was 13 over), if you just pay it, no points. The other option I heard that works is set the court date and the cop usually doesn't show up and they dismiss the ticket I think. Then all you have to pay is court costs or something like that, not sure exactly how that one works. I did hear about a place that supposedly fixes tickets in St. Paul, but not sure exactly where it is. Hope this helps!!

Re: Got my first ticket in my G...

Go to one of those traffic ticket clinics, you can look them up in the yellow pages. They'll charge you $60-70 for a lawyer that will go to court on your behalf and chances are you won't get any points or pay anything but the court fee. I've gotten soo many tickets (one for doing well over 40mph over speed limit), and since I'm a regular my local traffic ticket team gives me 10% off. So the ticket was thrown out and it set me back around $100 (lawyer + court fees). Believe it or not, you can get out of a ticket if the cop hasn't recalibrated his radar gun within a certain period of time.

Are you serious man? He said he was doing 100 MPH and he got a ticket for 85 MPH? How is that a "psychological trick"??? The cop gave him a break. The cop probably saved him hundreds of dollars.

Re: Got my first ticket in my G...

My first ticket for my G was by a cop that straight lied (said I was doing 80 on the freeway). I even proved (I THOUGHT) that due to the cops testimony it was mathematically and physically impossible for me to be going 80 but the cop still bought his story.

Cops that enforce normal laws are cool, Highway Patrol can go eat a dick. They're only good for directing traffic and eating donuts.
