AT Question
I have been listening to some comments about "Sequential Sport Shift" automatics. Most say that they tend to "delay" too much when shifting up or down. What do you guys, who have the automatic, say about the performance? Unfortunately I did not have a chance to test this when I was test driving the car..
Thanks in advance

Re: AT Question
The delay is very close to 1 second, thats just about standard in all "triptronic" automatics (I've only tried it infiniti and mercedes autos), i dont think its too much at all, better than having a stand-alone automatic with no "Seq Sport Shift"
You should go ahead and test drive it again man, never buy a car without driving it at least 3 times, and at least once on the highway. Just make sure you are 100% comfortable
You're welcome, in advance

Re: AT Question
Its quicker than 1 second. Actually, it seems to take longer to shift at part throttle, but when you have the pedal to the floor and shift at 6100-6200 rpm, it shifts in about half a second, right at redline.
Down shifts are quick too, although sometimes slower than upshifts. It takes a bit to learn the RPMs and feel of the manual mode, but with time you will learn to really enjoy having the best of both worlds.
And before the 6MT guys jump on me, it is slower than the manual, but we're not talking a huge amount here.

Re: AT Question
It's okay. The transmission is actually the one big ding against this car in my 330i v. G35 checklist. The Steptronic in the 3-series shifts much quicker, and has 3 modes (adaptive, sport, and manual), while the G35 has two modes (adaptive and kinda-sorta-manual). I do like the car overall, but I'm hoping they come out with an update for the shift program. I hear the FX35/45 uses the same transmission, but has quicker shifts, so I imagine it's possible.

Re: AT Question
Believe me, the car is such an outstanding piece of machinery, a spllit second here is nothing to impact a decision versus bimmer, etc. When the car is rolling at full throttle, the delay is anticipated and in process as the engine spools...so the shift is not so much delayed as smoothed out...in either cas you are accelerating very rapidly and passing your neighbor. But again, the car is more than that.
Juste my two cents worth.

Re: AT Question
Yeh the tranny could shift a little quicker, and be a little firmer, and a few other things etc, etc, hahaha, But I love my G and wouldn't kick her out of bed just for a few 'little' faults.. She's the best ride I've had.
