So I will be getting about 5-6K next year and I have 2 choices FI for my car I'm not sure what I can actually do for that price yet have not researched anything, or a 06 R6 or 06-07 GSXR600 what do you guys think I should do? Please don't start a war or anything just want some opinions that's all.

Is your car a daily?

Owning a bike is in another realm of problems as i say. Most people dont think about storage and also a lot of first time riders insurance. I was qouted 3k for the first time insurance on mine. That was over half the price of the bike.

 

I voted option #1 because I have never really wanted a motorcycle.

 

I voted F/I. Bikes are awesome, I own a SV1000S and love it, but there are added costs with bikes. If you buy a supersport be prepared to pay out the a$$ for insurance. My SV is a sport touring classification (look it up if you like, full fairing black) and I pay under $40 a month during the summer months. My buddy had a 2003 gsxr 750 and riding together was fun(he recently sold). The only time he had the advantage was above 10,000 rpm. The gsxr has more top end but that doesn't come Into play until you have doubled most legal speed limits! Oh and his insurance was 2x mine with a clean record.

 

All this insurance talk is making me think to go FI what would you guys recommend??? I live in SoCal so I don't know what is legal here whats not????

 

I'd go with the VORTECH and intercooler but I'm not sure you have enough funds ($) to do it right. Do some intense research before you begin so you don't come up short....my two cents.

haha 3k... i was quoted 7k for my insurance witch is about what i paid for my bike and its only a 650cc motor.

I'd say go with the R6. Check insurance rates first though. It can be a killer. Also, don't go out and be a SQUID(Supidly Quick, Underdressed, Immenently Dead). Get the right gear to be safe for WHEN you crash(that's about another k). Dress for the crash, and enjoy your ride! Don't skimp on the safety gear! Ride Safe, and keep the rubber side down! A recent MSF course completion may have an impact on your insurance rates, so ask about that. The courses aren't expensive, and may make a significant difference. For me, the difference would only be about $1 a year, but for younger riders with very few years of riding experience you may realize a bigger savings. Also, shop insurance companies. Prices will vary GREATLY! One company may come it at 3k, another may come in at $500.

Dressing for the crash is one of the best things you can do. If you've met people who have been in accidents without the correct gear and compare them to someone who WAS wearing the correct gear, you'll understand why.

Put on some flip-flops, a tank top, and shorts. Go run as fast as you can in the parking lot, then dive into the ground. That's the equivalent of a very slow-speed motorycycle crash.

Your safety has more to do with the 'unknowns' than your skill. The mentality when riding that "Everyone is out there to kill me today. Where are they hiding?" is a good attitude because it is true. A $100 helmet tells me you've only got $100 worth of head to protect. More expensive is not always better, but in general you get what you pay for.

 

I think I'm goin to research on the gear and the SC see what's best for me. Thank you guys for all the advice.

Gloves 30-40
Jacket 150-200
Arnir 150
The bike I want is 6000 and the exhaust a must for me is about 120 just a muffler delete kinda thing and I am waiting for a call back for my insurance quote

 

If I had the money I would go FI !!!
