Cold Weather Stalling Issues

Got a weird stalling issue. Vehicle is 04 5at coupe, bought in the summer and never had any starting issues. At the time of purchase, bought a Optima yellow top and installed a grounding kit. Now that the weather is constantly below freezing, I noticed the following annoying issue. Car cranks and starts up like a champ in the morning and after school where it sits in a cold parking garage for 10 hours. The problem occurs when I take a short trip anywhere. If the engine is still warm in the 10-20 minutes after I turn the engine off, the first crank from that warm engine will result in an initial normal startup, followed by a drop in RPMs to zero a split second later and a stall. Cranking a second time after this will result in an initial half second of stutter, and will then smooth out. Any ideas? Thanks.

Do a SEARCH under IDLE RESET. Once completed that should solve your idle issues.

try the reset, if not check fuel filter

after a long time maybe the particles don't clog it up as much. during the stop and start it does not have time to settle.

could also try cleaning the throttle body if you have high mileage

Thanks you guys, idle reset fixed it. I did a reset in the fall when I changed the spark plugs. The dealer also replaced both valve covers for the leaking problem after that, but I guess they never did the idle reset. Was about to bring it in, but you guys saved me from calling off of work and driving a hour to the dealer.

I had a similar issue with starts when the car is warm. It started after I changed my battery from stock to a Sears Die Hard Gold battery. I took it to the dealer and they had to reset the idle of the car. After that, my car has had no problems starting. Best of luck.
