I know there a lot of threads about low idle and the different solutions, but does it really need to be fixed. I've had the problem since i bought the car and the car seems to run fine. Is it really worth fixing?
well it idles around 200 rpms, and the car doesnt sputter. do you think this messes with with clutch and how you drive?

Your coupe should idle just over 1K RPMS cold and between 600 and 700 RPMS warm. If this isn't how your coupe is idling do a SEARCH under subject cold idle or idle reset. Takes all of two minutes and you can do it yourself....no charge!Originally Posted by phantomg35coupe

I think resetting the ECU would bring up your RPM. I reset my ECU once and it goes from 6k RPM up to 6k5 RPM. Give it a try. It's easy by the pedal method or disconnecting the battery but I would prefer pedal method. Easy and free. If it doesnt work, then try something else. Good luck.
thanks for all the help. i already searched all about the low idle problem, and the reason i have not done the reset yet is because i did it about a month ago and i dont remembering it helping. i will do it again, but my question is what are the problems that this would cause, basically why should i even care about fixing it?

If the engine idles smoothly without stalling, and accelerates smoothly from idle, there should be nothing to worry about.Originally Posted by phantomg35coupe

Here's a thought for you. Perhaps the engine itself isn't actually idling 200 r.p.m. (seems very unlikely that it is). Keep in mind there is a possibility your tachometer is not calibrated correctly, or the system that senses engine r.p.m. and sends that information to the tachometer is faulty.

Nissan designed our VQ engines to idle at a specific RPM for a reason, if the low idle reset doesn't work I'd be finding out why. Quite possibly there are other issues you're not aware of, let's not assume it's alright to just let the low idle issue go. Maybe that's just me, I want everything to be right aka dead nuts/perfect!

+1, 200 RPM is ridiculously low. And whoever said 6 - 6.5, he isn't talking redline he is talking about IDLE... Anyway I would def get it checked out because if you tried it before and it didn't work it is most likely a tachometer problem.Originally Posted by Irrelevant

is this considered too low? My car doesn't sputter, seems to drive fine. On a cold start its above 1k rpm like it should be. Does is matter what mods you have as well? I have the jwt pop charger and a true dual exhaust. I've done the ecu reset after each mod.

alrighty so i just performed the idle reset and it didnt do anything. i agree with gary, that it could be something bigger. im probably gonna go dish out 100 dollars tomorrow and have infiniti take a look at it

That looks normal for idle..
