I rarely ever open my sunroof, but I leave the cover open so I can see out of it. It makes the car seem more open.

In MD - use mine all the time...I have tinted windows, and love the fact I do not have to roll down the windows which makes the ride very noisy

I only use the moon roof. I hate the sun coming in the car.

It isn't standard, I believe it came as a stand-alone option. That, or it was part of the Premium Package. Leather seats weren't standard either. I do use mine on a regular basis, and yes, I'm from California.

OP, your best bet would be to sell the car and get one with a moonroof. Its simply too much work to cut a hole, install a piece of glass, and rip apart the headliner to install the rails and electronics. I've never seen a price quote for an aftermarket moonroof but no doubt it'll be in four-figures territory.

Didn't know G's came with no sun roof option.

I always use mine, but i don't slide it open, I like tilt it up (don't know what the right term for that is lol).

Maybe it's a U.S. / Canada thing. For example, a Canadian car can come stock with heated seats/mirrors, where it is an option in the U.S. (My Prelude was like that).

Im in NY and during the Spring and Summer I use it every time I get in the car.. Its sunroof all the way open, driver and passenger windows cracked about 3 inches.. good to go.. I love it and it brightens up the car which makes my dark tint less obvious. Also, the best is at night during the summer when its not to hot but not to cold and you crank open all the windows and sunroof and blast the heat at like 82-88. (Socal guys probably never get the chance for this cuz its too hot) But its the best! I would definitely be less happy with any car I owned if it didn't have one. My dad was set on buying the Audi S5 when it came out but when we drove off the lot in our test drive, he reached up to open the sunroof and it only tilted.. He turned into the dealers second entrance and went down the street to get his g37 coupe.

You don't have a sunroof because you bought a "Standard Model" so you may not have leather seats or Boise radio either. I love my sunroof and use it all the time. Not having a sunroof is one of the reasons I didn't buy another Z. Having been born/raised in CA. I'm a "Sun Addict!"

I've researched this issue because I too do not have a sunroof in my coupe and wanted one (yes I'm in Cali ) It is a big pain in the @ss to have one installed. Your best bet, if you still want one installed at a cheaper price, is to track down a used run roof assmbly either online or call around to different junk yards, and just take it to a sun roof installation shop to have them only install it. They were quoting me around 300 just for installation. But the thing is they would have to repaint the roof of your car because of the hole that they're going to have to cut out will damage the paint. I gave up personally, too much of a hassle. I really really wanted a sun roof when I was car shopping, but I'm just going to have to learn how to live without it.

when G's first came out, they came with alot of options and you get to choose from the options. So first owners prolly want it like that?

In southern NH, I use mine from early Spring until the first snowfall. Car then goes into heated garage for the Winter.

If you are trying to say that the structure of the body is compromised because of the sunroof you need to check up on your physics.
there are rolled seams in sheet metal around the sun roof. those seams are much stronger than the sheet metal by itself. the weight issue is understandable to an extent, because if you are not going to literally "race strip" your G, what is 50 lbs really going to do to us??? just considering how much our cars weigh in the first place.
